The heroine and general drug addiction thing is a really hard thing to argue because it's either give those people safe places to feed their addiction (which I don't agree with either) or go back to the Reagan era of criminalizing it all to shit. No one wants to find other solutions because the feds can't profit off of other solutions.

I disagree with the idea that people choose to be addicts. My cousin died from heroin 6 years ago and he didn't choose to be an addict. It started with smoking weed with friends that popped pills occasionally. Those friends who popped pills occasionally didn't know they were addictive (sounds dumb but lots of 16-19 year olds believe dumb shit) and convinced my cousin to do them. Cousin got the plug for pills and started doing them more, eventually developing a physical dependence to opiates. Once pills became harder to get he realized every time he runs out he gets sick. He asked dealerman for something that would keep him from getting sick while he waits for more pills. Dealerman tells him heroin is pretty much the same thing as pills it's just cheaper because it's not made in a lab. Pills go up in price due to high demand and low supply, my cousin can't afford pills anymore and is forced to use heroin to not feel sick. Heroin can be tricky to dose at times due to fentanyl and inconsistent potency. Cousin is a closet heroin addict and has to hide when uses. Cousin unknowingly gets some hot shit one day causing him to mis-dose leading to an overdose. My cousin didn't choose to be an addict or ruin his life with drugs, and he would still be here if he had a place he could have used safely. What I can say is that he did choose to stay an addict. He knew he was addicted before he died, had access to rehab, and didn't take it. I don't think having safe drug use areas encourages people to start using drugs or to be addicts, it just keeps them from potentially dying from them. I'd rather someone keep using and have more chances to get clean then die early in an alley without another chance to get clean. Otherwise, great interview! much love!

This conversation around addiction missed the point that providing needles was specifically to aid in reducing withdrawal symptoms that lead to worse public behavior in states of psychosis, where the piece of shit levels are high in the eyes of the public whether or not they're dangerous. At it's worst they're reducing abuse by creating neglect, and as someone raised by two sponsors who are unstable white knucklers, no one can claim to know what works for other people. You're young dude, you gotta get off the high horse of psychological strength and be more empathetic towards the reduced agency age we live in, to step back and remember the attention deficiency age we have created that you're working in has a chemical impact on the nervous system that holds our spirit. Our ability to maintain a consciousness over choices has drastically reduced due to these systems. You sound bitter towards the weak willed because of how they've hurt you, and I hope that heals. Be well. I hope you learn to understand other people aren't like you.
