In a recent interview a couple of Nintendo games for legacy systems were revealed from Rockstar despite being canceled years ago. A new controller was revealed early from Microsoft that is now bringing up a question from the FTC leak.

Physical copies need to stay, it's the only way game ownership will exist, without physical copies, companies can just take away a game from us whenever they feel like and i'm sick of hearing the "you don't own anything anymore" argument, it's stupid and i won't stand for it, a physical copy of a game is mine and publishers can't take that away as long as it's playable offline

@@mikeuk666 just one example, when Konami delisted PT, you couldn't play it, also, if you lose access to an account and a game was delisted, you wouldn't be able to buy a game again without a physical copy, one last scenario, If a digital storefront closes like the Wii oner back then, all those games that are exclusive to said storefront are no longer available in an official capacity

I don't think GTA 6 is going to be as good as everyone thinks it will be. It will be the first GTA built from the ground up for multiplayer, the story is going to much more lacking than previous games, if Rockstar wouldn't make any story DLC's for the previous game they aren't going to put 100% into the single player of the next game.

I have a gut feeling it will disappoint. The sandbox genre is far, far more mature and saturated now since the early GTA titles. I think people are generally growing more tired of the large expansive free roam worlds with relatively bland things going on in-between. Sandbox games have often been more clunky in design than curated games with tightly controlled areas to explore. And like you say, there's little indication Rockstar will put huge effort into the single player when multiplayer is where the money is at.

I think it's far from a bad game, but it certainly feels like you could be playing Overwatch instead, that's the problem, it's not original and feels like AI blended Guardians of the Galaxy and Overwatch, it feels soul-less. 90.1% of all sales are digital. Capcom sells a ton of old titles at very low prices. They didn’t say what percent of new titles are at full price are digital. That could be more like 60/40. Those are the money makers.

There is technology in the works using a material called AIE-DDPR to create modern CDs that can store up to 125 terabytes. If that technology gets fleshed out issues of storing large games on a disk will be solved and there may be a great resurgence of physical media, hopefully within the next 3 years.

Not to mention a company like Capcom or Arc System Works is going to be ordering these in bulk in order to print off millions of copies of their games potentially. In the world of commerce, bulk purchases have a lower price tag because it’s just as profitable to sell a larger quantity at a reduced cost as it is to sell smaller batches for more per unit.

It won't be so good for game preservation that's for sure. One of the reasons I could backup all my Gameboy libraries was through a cartridge dumper. I wouldn't be able to do that with a digital title if the system is dead, or the account gets wiped. Hacking a console with homebrew just to back up some games is undesirable to me as it means I'll realistically never be able to risk putting my system online.

They want all of the money, not just some of it, and they definitely don't want us reselling their products and competing with them directly. In fact you got things like Nintendo Online and Gamepass where we're basically renting games and have no ownership whatsoever. They want the games to stay perpetually over-priced with no competitive outlet, unless you opt for their sub option. In the ideal world we would own and be able to sell our digital games, but I don't see how we can feasibly get there.

Game industry is struggling at the moment, I can’t see anything changing just getting worse. Here in the UK the Game store over here is stopping physical games being able to get through the store. The thing is now people need to realise that digital means RENTAL at the whim of the companies. You will find in the future when they turn off servers your games gone. Try totalling the amount of money you will have lost. It will be Thousands of pounds/$ the companies do not care. Studios shutting down games cancelled games pulled of your machine. I have been a gamer for over 50 tears and had all the consoles over the years, the future for the gaming industry is bleak, kiss good by to your games collection when they pull the plug on the servers. About the digital future: There are already mSD cards of 1TB so the thing would be how to make cartridged games cheaper and more reliable, while making profit. If that just looks like a hassle for the companies, sure they will go with digital releases and special editions that don't include the game.

They cant fit whole games on disc's. What happened to people coming up with new ideas. So people just stopped inventing new technology, no one can come up with a new type of disc, i find it extremely hard to believe.

What about when people pick up a used Capcom game and then buy digital DLC? That might alter those statistics significantly and in such instances it might increase the chance of the DLC being bought at full price.

I'm sorry, but I don't associate Capcom with physical sales. For the Switch in Europe only Monster Hunter has been released physical. If I want a physical release from any other games I would need to import them from the US or Asia. It's no wonder that digital sales were so high. They hardly offer a physical edition. Oh wait! In the beginning Capcom released Ultra Street Fighter II and Street Fighter The 30th Anniversary as a physical copy.

What we NEED from Microsoft is better quality analog sticks. . At this point Hall effect sensors should be standard but if they want to stick with potentiometers they should at least be of higher quality. Alps sticks have gone down hill in quality to put it mildly

20+ years ago, PC games came in a A4-sized full color printed (embossed) cardboard box and included a printed manual, pins, cloth maps of the game world (if RPG), and the disc. Eventually, it turned into a 7inX4.5in mini box (non-embossed) and the disc came in a sleeve rather than a case. And no extras. Now there's no box (embossed or otherwise), no manual, no maps, no pins, and no disc.

So the former Rockstar dev Obbe Vermeij almost erased all my hype for GTA VI before finding out this guy last worked for them in 1995-2009. His words should obviously be taken with a grain of salt at most, a lot speculation on his part. I’d doubt he would know much different than the general public on this. We do not want this to be another GTA V, god no. It was bad enough losing Leslie Benzies and Dan houser amongst other lead developers. Rockstar is very different now than it was back then

Capcom has been on a roll and while there numbers for digital sales are a little shy of 100 percent. I would think that the release of the Marvel vs Capcom fighting collection would show them that there is a percentage of people who would prefer it over digital. The game was only announced and I believe there numbers are thru the roof.

I dont expect much differentfrom GTA 6. They typically have very basic gameplay. 90% will be drive from A to B with dialogue 5% shooting 5% fetch Most the design comes from the world

RDR2 already used procedural, physics driven animation to support their mocap > Maya/Houdini workflow. I'm not very interested in GTAVI, but I am interested to see how they build off what they had for RDR2. It was far from perfect, but it had plenty of potential.

I own a Last Of Us 2 Special Edition controller. I don't care for The Last Of Us. My PS4 controller broke at the time, and this was the height of lockdown, that was the only controller I could get at a short notice.

Capcom sucks at actually putting content on the disc/cartridge. If anyone should stop physical games, its capcom. DLC is always on a one time use code for rereleases. They suck at releasing games physically in the west. And don't get me started in their switch collections.

Growing up and playing The Warriors co-op/solo was such a fun experience. The game’s soundtrack, gameplay, and ambience is something that as an adult i’ll never forget. One of the only games I hope gets a new-gen treatment someday or even a digital release outside the ps4.
