Yo, if the community mobilized and somehow finished this game, I would play this in a heartbeat. I've seen some pretty good custom campaigns and mods for Modern Warfare 2007 and World at War, so I think it's doable. Plenty of made-for-game assets are already there, the placeholders can be swapped, the missing/invisible geometry in certain levels can be dealt with, and with some extra writing to flesh out the story this could be a fun campaign.

what was this game trying to be exactly? seems like an early iterarion of bo2? ive heard some people say its an early concept of ghosts and even IW which doesnt seem to make any sense as even ghosts is two-three years apart and has very little "futuristic" aspects

From what's been said by developers, it was supposed to take place 30 to 50 years in the future. Some of the random elements of modern combat seem to be placeholder left from the MW2 engine they were building on, which explains the contrast in future vs modern. There are concepts for missions and plot points that mirror what we got in ghosts, and even one of the character names got used in ghosts I believe. It's neversoft's take on a futuristic game that doesn't go as far as having advanced movement. It feels like if old IW did take on a BO2 style game, and I personally love it because I loved the MW style much more than 3arc games

The channel GVMERS (they're a gaming documentary channel) released a video recently about canceled cod games. 22:40 is when the NX1 section of the video starts. They provide some pretty interesting info on this game.

Well this is not anywhere near what was planned. They planned the game takes place in 2060/2070. This is just a demo for Investors back then, where they even said that they used Placeholders and many assets from older Games. These Missions are almost 60% reused assets. Ofcourse it looks mostly like MW3. They couldn’t have nuked the Money already for like one mission only. And say: “this is how the game will look… we have only this one mission… BUT ITS WORTH IT!” NX1 probably was too ambitious. IW and close to BO3. In the end it got mostly re-imagined in Ghosts where some names, and plot points got a new life. Simply said NX1 is just a “What if” Idea/Concept/Alpha. And I gladly take this unfinished idea over any new COD. Not even hyped for BO6.
