Have always loved you take on this... I hate when they describe Cancer as emotional. It’s way deeper than that and through time the emotional maturity that is gained is not something to mess with.

It's amazing that I haven't really looked up what astrologers have to say on this axis, as I've faced it a lot. I've got my natal Moon in Cap opposing Sun in Cancer. Dad's a Cap Sun as well as a close friend, and many others with Sun in Cancer. My take on the intimidation note is that neither of these signs is to be treated with either distrust or over-trust on face value, because the way the relevant attributes manifest in an individual's entire character can vary so widely. Then again, I think it does apply to any sign that it's wise to mindful if we're painting people in very broad strokes... So with either of these signs I think it's best to be kind but judicious about how much you offer and how vulnerable until you get to know them, with keen attention to how they handle and express their emotions, and how they respond to you and others; communication skills and general emotional intelligence, coping strategies etc. Both of these signs can be oblivious to the needs of themselves and others when inexperienced or unaware, and conversely in the wake of trauma can either act it out toxicly for life, or transmute it into gifts that perpetually give to everyone around them. One thing to note is that our mainstream culture is not conducive for most people to meet their emotional needs in symbiotic ways, and a result of this widespread immaturity with a lot of trauma being constantly acted out through unconscious, toxic behavior patterns. This comprises most of the negative traits we discuss about any given sign. So I'd say a wounded Cancer who's taken to their shell and never gone through any healing journey is indeed very likely to be as you say "intimidating" for a good many reasons... But I think ultimately the thing is to shift our (as in humanity in general) focus from generalizing the personalities common to certain sun signs, to exploring how the themes of said sign can alternatively manifest in a soul's life experience. Anyway, again I say all this as someone with these signs having come into my life experience a lot, and while I've been led to above the typical lay knowledge of astrology, I'm not a pro. So whoever's reading this I'm sure you can read between the lines here and decide if and how my perspective is worth anything to you, but that's about it ;) -also Scorpio Ascendant, signing out.😎
