In 9/9/99 they removed my prostate. 21 years later the cancer returned. They are now treating it with a hormone shot every 6 months @ the local VA hospital. Then in August 2013 I was diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma & went through 6 months of chemo @ the VA. My PSA is 0.01 which means the prostate cancer is under control. The lymphoma has been in remission since February 14, 2014 so fingers crossed there. The VA keeps a close eye on my labs & take good care of me. Prayers for you guys. Thanks for the video.

Hey Scotty, my name is Parker I’m from Phoenix, AZ. I just want to say you are so strong during all of the ups and downs that you have been having with the cancer news/scares. I am an inpatient pharmacy technician at hospital here is Gilbert, AZ that specializes in oncology. I am also one of the pharmacy technicians that makes the Chemotherapy that we use for our patients. You are so brave and strong for undergoing your treatments in the past and it hope you never have to go through that ever again. Every time I get ready to make a Chemo while I’m putting on my special chemo gown and second pair of gloves to protect me from those cytotoxic medications and the special syringes that I use during the process to protect me from the medication and the gasses that come from it, I am still in shock sometimes how patients are able to withstand there treatments especially with the higher doses. Since I am a part of the treatment team I got to experience a couple of times when patients get to ring the bell at the end of there treatment I have never cried so much at work it was a very heart warming feeling. I wish you all of the best in your journey and hope you remain in remission!

Hi, Scotty and Mike ! I happened across your channel by chance. But, I know your journey. My husband and I were long term survivors of HIV/AIDS (from 1980’s) when Gary contracted non-treatable HepC. He lived almost 12 years with a 6 month life expectancy. Mike … I know what you are going through! And, Scotty … Bless you ! My love grew deeper and deeper for my 30+ year partner and 12 week husband (when marriage equality FINALLY became the law of the land !). Thank you for your story, and God-speed !

As a testicular cancer survivor (4 years NED and hopefully counting)... I get what you're going through (I had the SAME surgery BUT in my case the cancer was live (chemo didn't do the full job) and they couldn't resect the lymph nodes)) and I was sewn up (with no positive outlook) and sent back for another full round of chemo which FINALLY took and led to my no evidence of disease (NED) that I've been able to keep since then. I know exactly what you and your fiancee are feeling. Best wishes and warm healing winds to you both that it will move into your rear window for good. Happy holidays!

I’m so glad your getting better. I really feel for you both. My husband was on and off in the hospital for different reasons for a year. At home his scrotom would get huge at least 3 times through the entire 1 to two months. As his husband I could only feel such pain watching him like that. The doctors would say it’s just edema and it will go away. But would happen again, so bad the doctor had to devise a sling to hold them. As his husband you can feel the same thing, the pain, the uncomfortable feeling there going through. Any way, I just want to praise loving caregiver’s that are are there for thier spouses or spouses, they go through a lot of pain and discomfort and worry, and it’s so hard to see your loved one in a helpless situation. My love goes out to you Scotty, but a special love goes to Mike for being a good partner and caregiver. Good luck to you both

Scotty & Mike: I'm glad to have run across your site. I'm so sorry that you have had to go through cancer twice now. I have a dear friend I met back decades ago in college who had breast cancer diagnosed in 2021 and went through a long round of chemo, only in April of this year to find the breast cancer and metastasized to her pancreas, for which she's still undergoing chemo. She has a truly wonderful, supportive husband, which I can tell you have with Mike. It takes a lot of determination and energy to fight this horrendous disease. I wish for you both a wonderful holiday season, and that 2023 in the years to come will hold only good health news for you. And Mike, you are truly an angel of strength and love for Scotty. Stay brave, stay strong. And have a wonderful wedding!

Hey, watch you guys from time to time and was this ever a moment that a higher power reached out to deliver a message I needed to hear; I’d been kinda retreating from responsibilities lately: feeling overwhelmed ( both parents sick, condo flooded from upstairs neighbors, feeling shitty for a week or so. Anyway, today I thought, fuck xmass, I’m to tired to put up a tree and I’m listening to the traumatic shit you’ve both been going through with a fully decorated tree behind you! Your my heroes! Okay, getting past the fact that you both are such cutie pies, this touched me so much and I'm so happy that you are in the clear and may you both have long happy healthy lives. I'm an old fart, I'll be 68 this summer. I had polio as a kid and many health problems but then for about 30 years I reinvented myself and worked out and was very healthy until I hit my late 40s, and post polio syndrome kicked in among other things and I have been sick off and on, mostly on, for the past 20 years. Many surgeries, much much chronic pain, and depression. I have to admit that there are times I feel sorry for myself, but I will also admit that after watching your story I gave myself an attitude adjustment. I've lived much longer than you guys and I've had a lot of good years in there, so I can't complain. What you had to go through at such a young age is unbelievable and I hate to admit that you are both way more mature than I am lol. I'm kind of rambling because I'm tired, but I just want to say happy healthy long lives to both of you, you seem like very sweet kind people and your love for each other is very touching. Never lose that. Signed, old guy. XX

We haven't been following your channel very regularly like a lot of people here, but we have seen maybe a handful of vlogs and knew about the previous cancer, and we e are so incredibly sorry to hear that you have to fight this battle again. The unknown is always nerve-racking, but having each other's support will make such a difference in getting through it all. You're strong, your healthy, you're resilient, and the odds are that you'll beat it again. Just for a little reassurance, my mother-in-law beat two bouts of breast cancer and one bout of stomach cancer (!) during a 10-year period but has been totally cancer-free for more than 10 years now. Lots of people are multiple cancer survivors, and you're going to be one of them! Sending healing prayers to you both.

Oh my gosh Scotty and Mike! I am so sorry you had to go through this for a second time! I am a breast cancer survivor (9 years since diagnosis and going strong🙌🏽)! Cancer f’ing sucks! I think your 1st round was “easier” because you didn’t know what to expect. You just trusted the professionals (out of necessity) to do right by you. I know for me it felt like (and I was) I was literally putting my life into the hands of complete strangers. Second time around you had experience and were like oh hell no, I don’t want to do this again! You basically knew to much! Anyway, all that to say, I happy everything turned out well! I'm so sorry that you are going through this. I had cancer in 2012 and spent almost the entire year in the hospital receiving aggressive treatment and had numerous surgical interventions. Fast forward 7 years and I found out that I had not a recurrence but a new type of cancer. Mine is a chronic blood cancer (chronic lymphocytic B Cell Leukemia). I am lucky to have had my now husband with me through it all. Having solid support, I think, is key to positive outcomes. Had he not been there every day I don't think I would have fought so hard. Amazing! You really went through a lot having to go through two such procedures. I have been living with what started with stage 4 prostate cancer for the past 9 years. It had spread to several parts of my bones. Fortunately, the type cancer I have thrives on hormones like testosterone, frequent shots of a med that drives my testosterone to virtual zero rid my bones of the lesions and has put my cancer in a dormant stage. This would not have been good for guys your young age, but I'm now 91 and living a healthy life. Better than the alternative. I wish you both a happy and healthy married life. There's nothing more wonderful than having a life partner who deeply loves you and you return that love. You two seem to enjoy such a relationship.

My older brother, I guess you can say, died of testicular cancer back in 1989. Before todays, advances, his lymph nodes were never affected. He was diagnosed in 1985, his senior year in high school. He was 17/18 I was 15/16. He was cleared cancer free and even attended his graduation which greeted him with a thunderous applause. The following year it moved to his brain. Chemo/ radiation, surgery. He went back to work and then it popped up in his lung and liver. The same routine. He got better... again. He caught a cold at work, which turned into pneumonia. He said he would make sure I got back to college on time, and then just slipped away. I got back to PSU in time for my junior year as he said. That SOB... all these years it still hangs over my head. We never got along, but his last selfless action was for me.

My husband was diagnosed with prostate cancer about 7 years ago. It had advanced so far that a cure was not possible, only treatment. This past Fall we got the news that it had metastasized, not to his bones as expected, but to his abdominal lymph nodes just like your case. Surgery was not mentioned, but he just completed 25 rounds of targeted radiation treatments on the lymph nodes. He was told this could buy him a year or so before going to chemo. Than then would buy him another year or two. They don't say what happens after that. I worry about that. We won't know for a couple of months whether the radiation worked as expected. We're just trying to take it one day at a time, but we appreciate any and all prayers and positive vibes y'all can send for peace and healing. Thank you.

That was a good title; and my reaction was instantaneous: "On, No!" Our individual battles are different...but we share at least one thing in common. After a good cry, the battle cry to continue rings loud and clear within us. Yes, Mike, it is PTSD; I have been a fighter and survivor of it for over 5 decades. Good news about the surgery results. Prayers to you both.

Hope all is well, Big Boy! Happy Holidays. Keep us in touch as things progress. No baths...if you do a bath..then it must be running tap and a running drain plug...Walmart/Target or any warehouse should sell them. Showers are ok. You may need to use ajax daily on the floor...I often do...buy a sponge mop... Shoes must be new every 3 months etc. Clothing must be washed in your own washer and dryer in your house...and clothing should only be worn once and then discarded into the hamper to be washed.

Wow, so sorry you guys had to go through this AGAIN. I am very impressed how strong and positive you were having to deal with another nightmare experience. Sending healing prayers for continued good health going forward. You guys say Mike is your Caretaker...I use the term Caregiver, which is so true how much he cares and loves his man. Happy New Year! So looking forward to your wedding! Just love you guys, loving each other.

I hate hearing that you had to endure all of that unpleasant experience. Im happy to hear that you’re recovered and received positive results, though! Best wishes to you both for a much better 2023! Thank you for sharing your story - you guys are so positive and uplifting, even when life isn’t going well.

Firstly Huge Congrats on your engagement! That’s certainly a very special time. The other aspect is how you’ve shared your cancer experience with us which I can fully connect with as a survivor of 2 different cancers. As you say the first time is a bombshell and perhaps the shocking news numbs you whilst the 2nd time round you have an idea of what’s ahead and that shocking news doesn’t numb you nearly as deeply as you’d like. My husband of 40 years has been through the treatment and recovery stages twice so far and we consider it “our journey” as the stress & trauma that partners / carers go through is often more of an emotional rollercoaster than the patient. Our last cancer journey started just after the Covid lockdown which in The UK meant he couldn’t come into The Cancer Clinic with me for my seasons but had to wait outside in the car - sometimes for several hours. The cancer won’t disappear this time but the treatments & injections are keeping it low / non- detectable & the Op has certain eased much of my discomfort but If it rears it’s nasty little head & gets stronger we’ll cope with it together just as you two are. Remember you’re both in it together - be kind and caring of each - you seem to have that balance already. Enjoy making your wedding plans! Obviously we couldn’t get married 40 years ago but when we finally could (& did) we didn’t think we could feel any more for each other but that piece of paper / making those vows changed our lives! Good luck with all the fun that goes with making those plans & enjoy that very special day!

Big hugs to Scotty. May the Lord shines on you and keep you safe that no more cancer battles to be fought. Amen. Big hugs to Mike. May the Lord gives you strength to take care both Scotty and yourself, body and soul. I can't imagine the mental strength required for a couple to go through a round 2 cancer battle. Lord have mercy. Amen.

I'm so sorry for what you went through. Every member of my family have had cancer and survived to have long lives. My mom and 2 sisters lived most of their lives after their 40s w/o breasts. I lived from age 27 with a huge scar on my chest but we have all lived great lives into our old age (I'm 73) but we all die w/cancer. Presently my 83 year-old sister is dying of bone cancer but is in great spirits due to her faith. I'll remember you and your fiance in my prayers. Since you are now under regular MD care you'll live to an old age considering the great advances in cancer research.

I wish you the best, much health, and love. I will pray for you. Merry Christmas. Thank you for sharing.

Sorry to hear you had to go through all that. But the final news sounds great. No cancer. I empathize on the surgery too. I had 11 major orthopedic surgeries by the time I was 19 and have 35 incisions to show for it. You get tired of hospitals really quick. Your guys' strength though is amazing. Merry Christmas.

Nobody deserves to have to deal with something like this, least of all the two of you. You’ve had to be strong in ways I can’t imagine. So I am so glad to know that you’ve come out on the other side and that the results from the surgery were what sounds like the best case scenario. I hope you both have an amazing holiday and that you never have to deal with anything like this ever again.
