Sita, a central figure in the Hindu epic Ramayana, was the devoted wife of Prince Rama. After being abducted by the demon king Ravana, she remained steadfast in her loyalty, enduring trials to prove her purity. However, upon her return, Rama doubted her faithfulness and subjected her to an ordeal by fire. Though she proved her innocence, his continued distrust led her to withdraw from him, ultimately returning to the Earth, her divine mother.
