Hoping your hand gets better- I am wondering if it might be carpal tunnel syndrome that you are dealing with. I had this a number of years ago- terrible numbness and pain, worse at night. Nerve pain is the worst! People get this from doing repetitive movements with their hands (guitar players, painters, people at a computer keyboard all day, and maybe tarot card readers too!). The thing that finally helped me was the surgery and it has never come back.
