First of all, you can file an order of protection against anyone for any reason. ANY REASON. The person filing it doesn't have to prove damn near anything to get it issued. Then the person who the VPO is against, the defendant, has to go to court to get it lifted AFTER its been issued. Not to make light of victims but they need to use the word alleged here, just because you've had a VPO issued against you means nothing. Oh and btw, if you want to get it lifted it's gonna cost you about 2 grand for a lawyer JUST TO SHOW UP and talk to the judge, anything more than that and the $$$ start mounting up so while Ryan Upchurch can afford to fight it , a lot of guys can't.

Absolutely correct! Happened to me. An accusation was made against me purely to get what she wanted immediately. It took me a year and a half, a lawyer, and a ton of money to get through the BS. I was fortunate enough to prove her accusations were false and "catch her red handed" in the lie. It was at that point that her lie "snow balled" exposing many other lies, completely exposing her premeditated intentions. I was very fortunate to have it end the way it did...correct and Just. This type of thing happens often and doesn't end well for the falsely accused.
