I sell from Maine and generally I do not have a problem with USPS. my packages usually get there on time and sometimes early. I think it depends on the Distribution center.

I have been an employee at UPS for over 10 years. One thing I would advise is putting a packing invoice in the packages that has he customers name, address, and if possible the tracking number. it is fairly common for an amazon box to break open (Amazon is the biggest probem in the UPS system for damages) and soap or something similar to leak on another package. It will erase everthing off a label really fast. I have been able to send a packge to customers a few times becaue of an invoice.

I once ended up with an airplane engine instead of the lot of bath and body products I'd ordered from a direct seller, bc of a series of events that your idea might have helped. - Seller shipped my order with other outbound packages from her boss's office in an industrial park. UPS driver mistakenly placed my label on the engine's package. - Another package leaked oil on several packages in transit and caused the engine's actual label to smear. - Since my label was the only legible one, the engine was delivered to me. - I contacted my seller and read her the manufacturer info printed on the box. That's when she realized it was a neighbor in the industrial park. She gave me their contact info. - I phoned the engine manufacturer's shipping supervisor. She ordered a UPS pickup, complete with a new shipping label to send the engine on to their customer. - I couldn't reseal the engine package with the manufacturer's staples, so I had to run into town and grab some gorilla tape. - My seller initiated a search for my bath and body box, but lacking a shipping label, it was never found. - Neither package had an invoice or bill of lading, but my package had an envelope addressed to me by name only on the exterior. But what an adventure and learning opportunity it was.

Agree 100%! I have been with ebay for 25 years and that was one of the first things a PO Employee told me is to always have the packing slip with BOTH addresses on it. Labels can get torn off and I have seen some labels left in the sun too long FADE so you couldn't read the label anymore. I also mark it as a gift when printing, so no prices show up, just in case someone is giving it as a gift. Just the way I do it.

Weird. I never or rarely have issues with USPS. I live in Northern Wisconsin and it's 32 miles round trip to drop off UPS or FedEx so I use usps 98% of the time. I had nothing lost, a few minor delays even around holidays.

I've been reading a lot of information through a lot of groups about this. One thing is obvious. USPS in the south is a disaster but those in the NE and West are having no problems. The midwest is hit or miss with Chicago and Detroit reporting better luck. With you mentioning that you haven't had a problem I feel that means in the Midwest it's more in the southern midwest that's having the problem which makes sense with them boarding the south.

Be careful with Ground Saver. Because UPS drops them off to USPS for final delivery, there is still an issue with packages backing up. Also, there can be confusion because it gets marked as delivered after UPS makes it to the final USPS destination before it gets to the customer.

They don’t drop it off with usps anymore. Their contract with usps ran out 12/31 and wasn’t renewed. All ground saver packages are being delivered by ups now with additional restrictions that it is only for lower 48 and can’t goto P.O. Boxes or military addresses.

A lot of resellers have been affected by USPS and their inconsistent service. It happens with priority Mail as well. And some resellers have been dinged with too many late shipments that they are now considered below standard and their fees are now almost double.

I hear you. We have a horrible problem with our distribution center in Palmetto, GA. I have lived in GA for nearly all my life and had never heard of Palmetto until we started getting lost and delayed packages. Our local post office is good but the distribution center is terrible. UPS isn't much better though. We have a steep driveway and sometimes the drivers don't want to walk up the driveway and either won't deliver the package or will throw it down at the curb or in our woods. Thankfully, some UPS packages can be re-routed and picked up at The UPS Store. It's hit or miss, though.

I live in Belfair WA. Years ago (I think around 15). A local postal worker went postal. He was so overwhelmed with his job and too many packages to deliver. He started bringing them home to his property and buried them in his yard with a tractor.

The federal government has been trying to dismantle the reliability of USPS for over a decade. I've been using ups ground saver cubic for most of my large stuff for two years now. Also for your insurance be prepared for some disappointment usps has changed terms of service. If usps damages a item that item must now be turned over to the post office before your claim is approved. So no more partial refunds for damaged items.

We were OK pre-holiday. After Christmas, it was a disaster before any weather. It is getting back to normal now after follow-ups on all tracking. I bring everything to the PO and have them scan every package.

I use only USPS Fed EX is horrible packages claiming delivered that are not and UPS I cringe every time I purchase something delivered UPS it shows up looking like they ran my package over then took there boots to it for good measure. I have had very few issues with USPS and by a large margin my best option for shipping. Safe to say your local USPS is the problem.

Hey guys!! I watch daily but seldom comment. I live in Oklahoma and the Tulsa post office is horrible!! So many of my packages get stuck there!! If packages go through OKC I never have an issue. I live an hour away from Tulsa and once it took 2 1/2 weeks for a package to be delivered IN TULSA!! I completely understand your frustration!! Thanks for all you do!! I enjoy your videos!!

Omg we should talk. I have had so many problems especially if I drop at lyndon PO. I had a pair of pants I shipped in November that disappeared, I gave her a refund and then a few weeks ago, she messaged me that they showed up on the radar again. She was planning to make arrangements to go back and pay me, but then.. they disappeared again and have not popped up again. I found where I can dispute the slow shipping reports on ebay and I am slowly working through each of them because it's killing my seller rating.

It’s across the board. I agree about the mismanagement. Our mail use to come out of the Gary Indiana distribution center. Now it’s usually one of the Illinois distribution centers. Even our regular hasn’t been sporadic.

@Candace @ShedFlips We here in South Carolina are having similar trouble with post office either driving past our mailbox when the flag is up (packages for pickup or mail for that matter) or they are just stuffing everything in the mailbox without picking up the packages. Something needs to be done With regards to this on USPS end of things.

We live in Macon GA and have some of the same problems with USPS. Where we have our greatest problems with USPS is they miss picking up our packages to be shipped out. we are a registered a business (in our home) and have it set up to have packages picked up every day. we also send in the request to have packages almost every day. in the past 6 weeks they have not picked up our packages 5 times. We have great person that runs the route for them but when they are off the substitute is not told or trained to pick up our package. we don't have a carrier problem we have a management problem. the biggest problem is that management does not care and does not do anything to fix the problem. They do not see this as a problem. All they ever say is they are sorry and we will pick it up the next day.

This is happening every where. I live in Missouri and have had atleast 3 packages a week since November that I have had to put in a missing mail request on. Luckily I have only had 2 of these that just evaporated into the universe. But it is a hassle and the customers have been pretty patient, but this is getting old. Most of my mail goes to the KCMO distribution center. I just think it is poor management at all of them. I am tired of doing this weekly just to get my packages moving! Even priority is taking 2 weeks to get where they belong.

Unfortunately, UPS Ground Saver is going away. UPS / USPS Didn't renew their contract. That's why UPS Ground Saver is starting to creep up. So whether they just drastically raise the prices or cut it all together, it's a matter of days / weeks at this point. So you can use UPS Ground, it will just be higher.

Sorry to hear you’re having difficulties with USPS. Thankfully we don’t experience any of that here in Miami. FYI - UPS Ground Saver goes to a USPS facility and is delivered by a US Postal carrier. You’ll see when you print the label, there will be 2 barcodes.

Theres a center in georgia thats really bad too, i live in wisconsin but ive had several packages go cold at the georgia center. Be aware there is parts of the country that ups is pretty bad.

When you have multiple USPS packages if I remember correctly there’s a form you can print out that has every package listed on it. The form will have one barcode the carrier can scan the one code and it automatically uploads every package that they are picking up. Saves them from scanning a bunch of separate packages. I don’t have huge numbers often but I have a few times. I haven’t used this option in a while. The usps in Jacksonville FL and the Atlanta location are horrible as well. Had packages bounce around multiple states in and out of Jacksonville until it delivered correctly. ATL lost a package for 3 weeks and the manager that called me was severely rude when I asked her name she said puddin tane. We know that old saying. I said some nice things and hung up.

Neat UPS hack: You can ship UPS Ground Saver to PO Boxes. The last leg for that service uses USPS. *We discovered this because eBay allows buyers to use PO boxes even if you don't have anything USPS as an option.

I had problems over the holidays with packages that went through Baton Rouge. I ship from Tennessee and anything that eventually went through Baton Rouge just stopped moving for several days. I agree with Candace, someone there, either management or employees are responsible for the holdups either through incompetence or intentionally.

Ground Saver is essentially zero insurance. They only insure until they hand it off to USPS. I also do not recommend it for cross country cause it is sloooow. I'm on the east coast and I've had packages with ground saver take 12 days to reach the west coast. Plus add the additional day for the "hand off" to USPS.

UPS Ground Saver can be used if it's going to a Post Office Box, (but you can't use PS if it only shows a PO Box) because USPS does final mile delivery. I've been using UPS GS and USPS GA interchangeably, and haven't had any problems with UPS GS. I have had a couple lost packages with USPS GA though. I think you're making the right move (at least for now).

FYI- UPS DRIVERS DO NOT SCAN INDIVIDUAL BOXES DURING A DAILY PICK UP. They simply put in how many pkgs were picked up and complete the stop. I’m a supervisor at 2 centers-questions just ask.

I’d imagine, in larger cities, they don’t scan each package until it gets to the center. But it doesn’t hurt to meet up when they pull up and just ask them too. We have lived in a larger city and now a farming rural community, and found it’s all about how we treat our drivers and communicate with them. You’ll know soon enough what your particular drivers are willing to do, if you just ask.

East TN here. Our packages have always left here and went to Knoxville, TN and then on. Recently, we have had some packages mysteriously go to Charlotte, NC and just sit there for days. I sent out a $650 sale last Friday via Priority Mail that estimated a Monday delivery. Here we are going in Thursday and the box sat in Charlotte for 3 days and has now been in Little Rock, AR for two full days and it is less than 30 minutes from the customer's address. I am done with USPS as much as possible. I'll pay a bit more to use UPS now as well.

😊 Filing Claims: True statements about the success of filing Carrier Claims. USPS payout is hit and miss, especially for broken items. I have one in appeal as I type this. Haven't had a UPS or FedEx claim in years, but like you, since Ground Advantage came along I only ship out 1 or 2 most weeks with UPS or Fedex and drop those off while in town, so they only carry a small percentage of our outbounds. So, one wonders if the volume with alternate carriers increases, would the claims begin? Wouldn't it be nice if USPS could get their shite in one sock! 😉

UPS drops my packages off at the end of my drive way. Love getting home after snow or rain days and picking up soaked packages. USPS got bad when they stripped out all the sorting locations 8 years ago. I used to be able to mail something and it would be delivered in a day or two. Now it travels 2 hours south to get sorted to travel 2.5 hours north.

We had the same problems a year ago in Houston. USPS was “upgrading” the computer system and we had the exact problems you are seeing in Baton Rouge. It took several months and 2 congress reps to get it addressed.

It is worse here in Central South Dakota now with usps than anytime during 4th quarter was, and if it goes to st.Louis from here, it's there 2 to 5 days, they like to blame the weather, it's frustrating for sure. I got 1 neutral feedback because of it. Luckily, i don't send a lot of packages, so i don't leave feedback until delivery, so i notice when things get held up. My hub is KCMO and I have trouble with scans too. I take my packages myself to my post office and have trouble with no initial scans there on F/S/M plus no scan when the go on the truck to KC. All very frustrating!

Problem is that UPS is much slower then USPS at least in my case. I have stuff shipped from the west coast to the east coast where my business is and it takes up to 7-10 business days to get things via ground UPS. Takes 3 or 4 days from USPS. Just let your buyers know the shipping could be longer. Just an observation from my regular business.

@@shedflips You guys must be in the USPS VOID---So sorry to hear that. Scary part is I have had a few delays by a day or two. Nothing major. Even with the even with the Ebay Standard Envelope for cards---so far none have come back and only 1 or 2 lost (I probably should have never said that out loud--hehe). But I do one thing with them, in most cases, I bring them personally into the PO and have the Clerk hand date stamp them. I also take the time to go to the PO and have them scan every order I sell when I am there---so I know it was scanned and shipped on time. I live in an apartment and cannot have pick up. Neat part of where I live i have 70 PO's with in 12 miles of my apartment. I have the second biggest in Philly, less then .5 miles away and it is the worst one to go to. Only issue I have had is at Carol Stream, IL right before it gets to ebay for international. I have items sit there. I just had one sit for 4 days and I did a missing package on it and all of the sudden it moved within hours. When I use to live in TN it seemed things got lost in Memphis all the time.

Just a note. It’s not just Baton Rouge. It’s happening in Louisville KY too. We’ve had boxes sitting there for over a month. Things finally start moving, but there’s a real problem. This issue is not just weather related. There is a federal government issue with labor and probably processes. The weather of course made it worse. I have found, if you upgrade it to priority, instead of usps ground……it moves through the system better.

I'm still confused on the way UPS does some of their shipping. When I choose them as the shipper on eBay it gives me the price after I put in the weight in the dimensions but then I get a price adjustment from them later because they somehow switched it to cubic rate. The package weighed 3 lb but by the time they got done with me they charged me for 7 lb. Which is crazy how they get away with that!

They are very strict on their dimensions, you really have to hand measure every package and not rely on the printed dimensions on the box.

I use ups only for over-sized packages. They are very rough on boxes. Also something to pay attention to is actual size of box. I shipped in a Ups purchased 12 x 12 x 12 box. I received a bill for postage due. After contacting them I was told packages are scanned for size. They said it was 13 x 12. Needless to say I physically measure all large boxes now

I watched a video yesterday where the USPS employees were so feuds they went to the local news but refused to show their face/voice. It wasn't in baton rouge thought. Somewhere midwest but not of the mason/dixon line

One is Louisville Kentucky. Or local news station just posted videos taken by employees of hundreds of bins just sitting. They are next door to Louisville international Airport and yet I have noticed most of my shipments end up in Indianapolis where they sit.

I would rethink using ground saver. 1 UPS has dropped the contract with usps for ground saver at least the last I seen. so I would look into it more first. Also if it is lost when tracking says ups handed it over to usps you will not win any insurance claims.

It's living in Louisiana! Since we moved here mail delivery has been dreadful!! The latest thing, we had our mail held but one of our carriers didn't get the memo and she left a package on our step. Couldn't be bothered to step up one more step and put the package on our covered porch or leave the box under our ample car port. So the package sat out in the torrential rain we got for 3 days and was a soggy mess, ruining the items in it. Can't wait to leave this place.

It’s not just with the USPS in your area. I sell on eBay as well and they have been messing up our packages big time at the Philadelphia Regional Hub. I dropped off 11 packages at my local office on Jan 14 and they sat at the Philly hub until Jan 20. I still have three of those packages not delivered yet and two don’t have scan data since they left my local office.

Michigan depots had 10,000 packages backed up. Big problems at the head depot. Had nothing to do with weather.

It isn't just your location. It is a LOT of USPS locations that have not increased staff although the number of parcels and packages have increased a TON because of Amazon.

oh we are to here in nettleton mississippi . we are looking at ups . i have packages that have been taken 3 days to get memphis that is where all are mail go to be sorted it took 14 day for a package to make it to Jonesville , LA

I have seen notices from EBay that USPS is no longer accepting ground saver packages from UPS. It states that they will either be returned or destroyed. Not a good idea for me.

It's definitely a hub thing, IMO. I have great USPS service in KCMO and never had an issue until using UPS Ground Saver over the holidays (and winter storms)...what a nightmare. Some packages still haven't arrived. I will only use UPS for large, heavy items, period. Good luck to you. OH! and UPS has broken at least 3 of my fragile items!!!!! You can file a claim all you want and you'll get nothing. DO NOT send breakable items via UPS. Just my 2 cents.

You can send Ground Saver to a PO Box. You can send any UPS package to a PO Box if you figure out the address of the PO. You replace the address with that address and add the Box #.

Are you sure that still applies in 2025? USPS doesn't do last mile delivery on Ground Saver as of Jan 1. USPS doesn't touch the packages at all.

@@shedflips I didn't know that. You are correct on the partnership ending. You could still ship Ground Saver in the other manner where you find the PO address and use a Box number. The only reason UPS "can't" deliver to a PO Box is simply because there is no address to deliver to.

UPS taking up USPS Slack: one thing to keep in mind is that if you don’t have at least one Ground Advantage/Priority, you can’t sked a curbside pick-up if your outgoing consists of all Media and/or eBay Standard Envelope. So if you move the bulk over to UPS you could find yourself in this situation. My son-in-law is primarily a Media Seller so they have days where they will only have media packages. There are a couple ways to deal with this, one of which is to take a Media item that is just a few cents different then Ground and upgrade it to Ground Advantage. You only need 1. You can then have the request be 21 Media and 1 Ground Advantage for the USPS pick-up. 😉

I schedule pickups with USPS out like 3 months at a time and just put in quantities/weights that are higher than we will actually have. Our carrier told us to do that. So if we would happen to have a day where it's just media they'll still be here anyway. I don't anticipate that happening very often anyway.

@@shedflips 😊Interesting. I never considered it. Instead I do it the evening before, after all the packages are done for the day, to have a closer count. My carrier is also not too concerned about the actual package count being correct, as long as she can scan 1 Ground Advantage or Priority package, she will take whatever is in our deck locker, where we stage them for her. I've had a few substitute carriers leave notes about the count being different, but just rat them out to the regular carrier for training. My biggest issue with curbside pick-up is that some substitutes just blow it off and the packages don't get scanned until the next day. But since I don't have 1 day pick-up set, the packages still makes the deadline. The other common issue with substitute carriers is that they'll sometimes scan only 1 (or none), so when I'm working outside and hear the carrier's distinctive engine sound coming down the road, (about 6 houses away) I make sure to be there to hand over packages and use the opportunity of a face to face, to remind them just how important that first scan is to small business resellers.

The contract with UPS ground saver and USPS is up in the air. My local USPS hasn't been accepting UPS ground saver packages lately, not sure if thats changed since I last spoke to them a week ago but they suggested I not use it for now.

Question: How much stuff is left in storage? If there are projects coming up now anyway, could it be economically worthwhile to extract all the content there, load them up onto Ebay and put them in the shed? If empty, you could save the cost of the additional storage. And you would no longer have the option of saying: "We'll store it and deal with it later."
