OMG man, really love your message, the honesty that you are bringing to the table is unvaluable. Thank you for this video, you just saved me 100K. I mean I am still doing the MBA because I want to swtich careers (manufacturing - - > Consulting or M&A) but now I will look after cheaper but still good options like MBAs in europe. Really interesting what you said about networking. It is being said that "your network is your networth" and I think that is what is making a lot of people to belirve that the MBA is always a good idea. Again thank you.

Hi, I really appreciate the insights. For few years I have been debating on going to school for part time or executive MBA and have been talking to folks at work and outside about it. Your advice really helps because you have actually gone through the experience. I understand that you chose to follow your passion, which is entrepreneurial, but were there people who were able to leverage the Booth brand name to either move up in their current company or get employed at a different company (in the same industry, eg: Tech) with a better position or higher salary? At the end of the day, 200K is not a trivial amount. I understand the risk and self discovery (trust me I do and I am at a stage where I am ready for that) but I cannot overcome the thought of not being able to pay back the 200K with interest. It will be great if you can share your thoughts. Thanks again for sharing your insights here. It is very helpful!

Thanks for the video. Why is it that it's impossible to switch with an executive MBA? I'm an engineer right now. If I get a weekend MBA either at Booth or HAAS , then I'm not gonna have a shot to switch my field and a job in management or strategy with or without my current company? It will not give me a better chance to get a job with Mckinsey or other consulting firms?

I decided not to work when I started my EMBA…I’m hoping this was the correct choice. I have two little ones at home. Why is EMBA impossible to switch? It’s still an MBA? As an entrepreneurial minded person myself…would a VC career be a good in between between full fledged entrepreneur and corporate type of job? Mine is 100% paid for, and I get paid every month to go. But now I’m struggling with should I get a traditional job because otherwise I might be wasting the opportunity to switch and get a job. I guess I’ll find out.

Unsure if you will see this, but what are your thoughts on a Part-time MBA at a top 10? I am entrepreneurial and want to start a company so it's basically a personal interest and wanting to tick a personal box.

Very helpful and much appreciated. How many hours of studying per week do you have to put in realistically? I have the feeling that the numbers you get from Booth are too low...

It will vary depending on your IQ, EQ and commitment to learning. During normal EMBA class days most normal folks will have to spend 30 mins to an hour before classes to prepare. Sometimes you may even need to come really early to complete unfinished assignments with your group mates. Majority of students will have to stay often pass midnight to complete assignments during first year of the program Some people take even longer. Some people reach exhaustion and just turn in what they could. After the week is over, there are still plenty of take home assignments and projects. Some people are good at offloading their work to others. And some people take too much load upon themselves. No different than your corporate environment. As the program progresses, you will get better at completing assignments faster. Your brain will slowly adapt itself back to school learning again. The number of hours required will reduce semester by semester until by the end of the program most people can successfully complete their group assignments and go back to their hotel rooms at a godly hour. Look for smart people that work well together. It will save you a lot of grief. Smart but don't work well together can still survive. You just divid up the assignment and assign someone to put the pieces back together. The most painful groups are those that are both dumb and egoistical. Those poor souls...lol

Mircro was good, macro was BS. It reflected more on the professors than the school. If you plan to be on the cutting edge for economic research then Chicago maybe the place for you. Simply being at uChicago won't give you better understanding ofeconomics.
