There is a £6M release clause for Mc Kenna. As an Ipswich supporter he is the real deal. Man Utd is the right job, but the wrong time. He should stay with us and go to Man Utd in the future when Man Utd have restructured and if he has any sense, avoid Chelsea at all costs. The other thing, is De Zerbe has only left because of interference and the fact he had no say over transfers in or out. Mc Kenna did not come to L1 lightly, and will not leave Ipswich lightly either.

Thiago Motta: 2 seasons battling relegation in Serie A with Genoa and Spezia and on his 4th season gets Bologna to UCL. Xabi Alsonso: 3 seasons in 3rd tier and 2nd of Spanish football then in 2 seasons at Leverkusen...well everyone knows that story! Enzo Maresca: 1 failed season in Serie B at Parma and then one season with Leicester and they come back to the Prem. Mckenna: 1 season in league 1 with Ipswich Town 2nd season in Championship 3 season Prem! Why are we scared of Mckenna or Maresca but would be trigger happy to claim Alonso or Motta?

It's not normal for newly promoted teams to have their managers plucked by much bigger clubs in this way. McKenna has done an amazing job at Ipswich, but he should stay at least a year to see what he can do with the team built in his image. He has a free hit there and will still have opportunities if the worst happens (see Kompany). It will forever be a what if for him and Ipswich supporters if they don't see what his team's capable of with the momentum there. Call me sentimental, but it's also the honourable thing to do for the club that gave you your first chance in management as well.

Why are these clubs going for McKenna based on League 1 and Championship performances? What makes them think that he would do this good in the Premier League or for a top club that's always got pressure on them? Makes no sense. I do not see this working. Not for McKenna and not for the clubs that are in for him. At least give him a season in the Premier League with newly promoted club Ipswich and see how he does. Burnley got promoted and did well under Kompany and then got relegated again and now he's being rewarded the Bayern job, for relegating Burnley

The best thing that could happen to Chelsea is players start handing in transfer requests so the board realise that they have purchased the wrong players and not hired the wrong managers. Managers like Tuchel, Poch, Lampard and Potter may not be able to win silverware with this current squad, but they know a lot more about football and how you create a winning dressing room than the board and sporting directors do. You can't only buy youngsters with potential and hire inexperienced managers with potential with zero experience and expect the miracle of them becoming the next Man City..

Are clubs really so naive to go for someone that at the moment is not an elite manager. Let’s be honest it wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened solskjaer , Lampard, Moyes, Potter just to name a few. Chelsea is a toxic club that McKenna should avoid... Man Utd are undergoing so many transitional changes that I think he'd be a fool to move there expecting to change things for the better. Both of those clubs have a large number of ego's he'd have to manage and I'm not sure ego-managing is Keiran's forte... Brighton are a better fit, BUT, they are not a bigger club than Ipswich and there is nothing to say Ipswich won't finish above Brighton in the Premier League this year... Brighton have overperformed the last 2-3 years! KM's best bet is to ply his trade a little more at a club he is adored by and then in a year or 2, after (hopeful) safe and secure EPL finishes, he has the world at his feet. At th moment... it's too soon and he should stay at a club where he knows the owners intimately and he knows he'll be given money and time to get things right!
