Love your channel so much, Jodie! ❤️ I work in a library and I think one of the easiest ways to help libraries is to use them! Check out books, ask for help, use their resources, etc. because a lot of libraries document what gets used/how often things get checked out to help justify why they are important and to get funding! Thank you so much for bringing this important topic up on your channel! Libraries are something that I wish booktubers normalized more often because a lot of people cannot afford to buy their own books and libraries are a wonderful resource!

Tbh I really love seeing vlogs where someone doesn’t finish all the books they read all the time it’s more realistic of how reading can be and normalises that it’s ok to have a life outside of reading that would get in the way of not finishing a book when you want etc it’s just really nice to see 😊

My local library has the best set up for kids/teenagers. Throughout school holidays they always have something on. Not much range for me but they have a coffee machine and a place to sit. I love it.

I’m fortunate to live in a small rural community with a well used library. They bring in the newest releases each month and have a great book club. I always have at least 3 library books on my side table as well as the many I purchase each month.

I have read almost all of the Shadowhunters books, but I do not think you would need to read the series you are currently reading in order to read the other series. There would be some spoilers in The Dark Artifices series, but if you are struggling with it that much (not enjoying it), I say just go on to the other ones. My 2 favorite series are The Infernal Devices and The Last Hours (this one is not complete yet). That is my opinion-just thought I would share.😊

I am a Librarian in Jamaica, West Indies and yes we do have the same situation where funding is only for a few text books but non for fiction and general books. Its so sad. Any fiction is usually books donated from overseas and sometimes we used to get like a container load of books from overseas but when we do we have no money to clear it from customs so its a battle. And we still do have people who go to read as they can't afford to buy books which are so expensive here in Jamaica.

I use my library all the time. I have a lot of physical books, but I always end up getting tons of books from the library too. I've been a library person since I was a kid, I just love the atmosphere, and I love what the library can do for the community. ❤️

I love my local library. It’s only small but if they don’t have the type of books I am looking for I can email the admin office for the local councils library service and they will take any and all ideas of books to get in, so when they order books in they often will use the recommendations from library users. It’s not a quick way but it has been slowly improving over time.

I always support my local library. I stopped going a couple of years ago because of a lack of funding there wasn’t a lot of books I fancied taking out so it became a waste of time for me to go😭 but recently they’ve had a lot of funding meaning they have a lot of new releases, etc. so I make a point to go every couple of weeks. I love that the library is somewhere you can go without the expectation to spend any money. Loved the vlog💜

I read so many books from my library even though I also own a lot of books. Our local library (I live in the suburbs in upstate New York) is huge and they have so many great resources aside from just books. They have an indoor play area for my two young kids, lots of free events for them, reading programs with prizes and even a 3D printer. I wish everyone had access to a great library!

i work at a library! my current job is at a smaller library than my previous job, so the selection is sparse in comparison, but the librarians at both seem to keep everything up to date, buy new books weekly, and only weed out books that havent circulated in a while. libraries around me have a wide selection in general, so i cant imagine having that taken away 🥺 so in terms of how to help, i think the easiest way is to keep things in circulation so checking materials out consistently!

late to the video and late to comment but wanted to share that I recently started to use my library again because I genuinely don't have anymore space for books or shelves and also to save with the cost of everything rising, and while I have found the odd few newer books my library is not great, the shelves are quite sparse, the books are really old but mine is connected to libby which is wonderful because most of the stuff I want is available that way, but Its a shame because what about the people who may not have access to a device that enables them to use libby, its not fair and it limits the resources available depending upon whether someone can afford a smart device and wifi. its true libraries are so under funded and its such a shame because they are so important and valuable to communities, thanks for using your platform to raise this topic 💕

Libraries here in NZ are fantastic. Latest technology, latest books .One in every suburb . Real community hubs & the staff are wonderful. I do love Libby too. Homebound deliveries do brilliant job too (in person interview to see what kind of books you like ).Lots of children's activities. Just bloody awesome !

I work at a library and I think the things to do to that are most helpful are to donate newer releases after you read them, use adopt a book programs if the library has them set up, request the books you are interested in for the library to purchase and just to checkout books to get usage numbers up for circulation 📚I just decorated my house for spooky season as well 👻🎃🖤

"Crimson" looks sooooooo wonderful 🤩 They closed the library in my district years ago (I loved it when I was in elementary school. Our teacher was dragging us there all the time 😃🥰). So, there is only one (big, a lot of plants and chairs outside and brand new) media library downtown. Everyone seems to love it ^^ But I like to buy my books now, in our only bookstore, diagonally opposite the library. Our last two mayors do their best, to make our town as good as they can ❤ Love Volvic

Except for the teen section becoming a media center (aka no books, just games and computers), my library has not changed too drastically! I’ve been going to my library since I was about 7 or 8 (I’m 21 now), so that’s really good. I stopped using the library for quite a bit, then started again in 2020 and utilize the ebooks frequently 😌❤️

Yeah that's been my issue with libraries whenever I go look for stuff like YA (which is what I like to read) or even middle grade they haven't had a good selection. I like using libby but I'm just such a slow reader I pretty much just buy all my books but I love getting shorter books like graphic novels and poetry collections from libby just so I can support libraries in some way!

Hi Jodie OMG, your childhood library is amazing - I would never have left if it was mine. The big main library in my city is currently closed due to earthquake damage, the building has to be completely refurbished before they will allow people back in again. I can't wait for it to reopen again - they have opened smaller libraries in the meantime but it is not the same.

I just went to the library and was shocked at all of the old books. I had a list of series I wanted to get and they had 4 books total! Not the first books in any of the series, like Kate Daniel's, Dresden Files, etc.... Everything is now on e-books. Huh? I'm in Phoenix Arizona. Really upset me. 😡

I think it's a general issue regarding libraries in many countries. When I was a kid we mostly used our school library, but the city library has been heavily defunded over the last years. In many European countries I know it has a lot to do with the general public defunding that has been happening because of how people vote, but we also have to admit that the more individual and capitalist the citizens become, the more we want to own the goods ourselves and not have them "spoiled" by other people touching them. So it ends up being a kind of destructive cycle. Definitely, the politics have a lot to do with it but the people decide in the end what they value - and libraries are not one of them. It's sad but I only see this going one way and that is even less people using libraries. I mean, I don't.

That illustration book is gorgeous! Yeah, libraries are heavily underfunded and never have enough staff. I worked part-time in the children's department and when they had to hire a new children's librarian she wanted more hours and higher pay. They had to let me go, because they couldn't pay her more and still keep me on. Also, I got my Masters in Library and Information Science, and was discriminated against due to my religious beliefs. I was offered a YA Librarian position and when they found out I couldn't work Saturdays due to religious beliefs, they took back the offer. I got legal counsel involved due to the discrimination and the library claimed it would be an undue hardship to hire me, due to not having sufficient staffing. Needless to say I'm not a librarian and wasted thousands of dollars on a degree that I am unable to use, because no library will hire me.

I hated My Killer Vacation… and I love all the other Tessa Bailey books, but I agree that this one was just not it. I also hated the main guy, and the dialogue and the situations they would DO things was so cringy and uncomfy. I gave it 2.5 stars and I feel that’s generous

I found My Killer Vacation to be SO boring! The love interest was so annoying with his “Half Pint” crap and constantly objectifying the girl (I’ve even forgotten her name! And the talk about her breasts in literally every chapter had me dying inside, so I totally understand your feelings about this book!
