Everyone is moved by this song for its anti-drug anthem, but when it came out, I was a music major in college, and I was freaking out because they used a 5/4 time signature during the chorus in a rock/pop song on the radio. Their drummer was amazing!!! This song is still absolutely incredible!
@daveington Жыл бұрын
6/8 not 5/4 but agree that's it's awesome to see in a hit rock song
@rheinhardtgrafvonthiesenha8185 Жыл бұрын
Lol! I’m a former druggie and music college graduate and yes the 5/4 is more unique. The lyrics are fairly juvenile;and that’s fine so we’re the Beatles and allot of bands) But the signatures causes swells that if his voice just had a bit more about it, just a bit more give, this could of been an amazingly sung song. As it is it’s really cool and unique and I love it. But I can do much see where it could improve yanno.

It was some of the reason tho I wasn't on anything when I wrecked but had used at earlier day and for long time. It put me losing my husband who used too. Now I'm prescribed it 3x a day b/c of my accident. Nvr wanted this 15 yrs ago but I'm strong b/c my son is 15 yea I wrecked when he was a wk from 7 mos. It's not worth it. It uses u and kills the person u are and kills those we love. Who wants to feel like the only connection u have ever had is only felt halfway thru a song b/c u lose someone u love b/c of something u. could've gotten free help to prevent wth man I mean I'm not talking about connecting thru this song but songs that scream what u long for.. what u wish was able to come true.. Like a person u lost because u were stupid and didn't get it. Don't mess up a healthy mind. Don't fog it. I didn't get to change his diapers, introduce him to my cooking, see him off his first day of school nothing but even tho I'm broken I'm strong and I haven't abused anything in over 8 yrs. God has had my back. He's made me completely bulletproof and my son and I have a solid relationship and he looks identical to me.

The pain in my heart is very real too... I have the utmost empathy for anyone battling a heroin/opiate addiction or anyone with any type of addiction really but an addiction to opiates is a very very vicious cycle. Ive lost 10 years of my life and multiple swings at trying to get off of them through every avenue imaginable. Methadone being extremely terrible experience.. and even with this utter detest for the long term effects of opiates, 6 months trying to ween down on buprenorphine, I STILL want to use, im still physically addicted, and it wont let go... Im fighting on the front lines to defeat this evilness & even going to meetings 5 nights a week and knowing im not on the front lines fighting alone, I still feel very alone in this fight.

You can do it man. I've grasped the fact that it's a lifelong battle, and that even after you've stopped and gotten through w/d's and re-establishing your life, it's something that you deal with every day. You just have to stay strong. I know you can do it!
@jonwright812810 жыл бұрын
ecstasiaburdened Thanks In the last 10 months I've weaned down with the help of Buprenorphine (Subutex) basically the much better and cheaper cousin to Suboxone because it just has the opiate without the needless naloxone/narcan crap in it that was making my liver sick. I started at 32mg a day and im down to 2mg a day. Cravings under control and feeling so much better. I got my life back after 10 long years. I am so grateful and so happy. Thank you SO MUCH for the kind words. It seems more people enjoy putting "junkies" as they would say, even in recovery, down. Which is sad because it is a progressive disease that kills people. Anyone who has never been not just addicted but dependent on opiates should understand the disease portion. I was started on Fentanyl, Morphine, & Dilaudid at 18yrs old legally from my Dr's and im 29 now. I have to go to meetings every other day still (well I don't have to but I like the support and occasional beautiful females I meet ;-) ) But thank you! Im really doing good! I got my daughter back and life Is good again. This can be beat if u want it bad enough and have the right resources. Since my addiction and dependence were so bad I had to hit 3 ways. IOP (Intensive outpatient rehab), An Addiction specialist Dr who helped me taper, & family all had to be on board! But its possible if you want it!
@nate55610 жыл бұрын
ecstasiaburdened Just takes one good, great, amazing day to be ruined by the little voice that says, "Imagine how much more fun this would have been on morphine." After 6 years clean, that little voice never goes away. Oddly enough, it doesn't bother me on the shitty days, just the good ones.
@ecstasiaburdened10 жыл бұрын
Jon Wright I am so happy for you!! For me, "wanting to beat it bad enough" wasn't good enough, though. I could want it all day, but at the end of that day, I wanted to not be sick more than I wanted to get sober. That's the truth of it. It helped me a lot to tell myself and, in turn, to know that I was strong enough to do it, that I was stronger than the dependence. I don't know why or how that helped me lol, but it did. Along with having a great family who judged me, yes, but never let me feel alone or ostracized with it. I won't say "Good luck", but I will say "You got this!"

The perfection of this song is that it can be about what you want it to be about. It crosses over boundaries of common judgement.

I first got rocking w/candlebox because of my ex- still grateful- I listen today and play it for my kids because it's real... My dad killed himself in '97, but when I heard this song, it spoke to me 🥀 Thank you for your message, its helped me relate to my kid's... And helped me reconcile my father's suicide... That's probably not what you were going for, but I appreciate it very much

For me this song expresses the struggle and battle within. It's Not only about taking on the pain of others around u which whom u love that battle addiction, but furthermore the addiction u have within yourself. It shows the will and hope to have the stength to take on all those battles and to conquer them solely within yourself but yet somehow the grasp it has on u never truely fades. U can fight and resist all you want but once u fall under its spell the battle only continues 10 fold. To me in the end when he says its all for you it means for the addiction. The sacrfices we make sometimes dont always result in a happy ending; and facing the reality of that is truly devastating. He is owning up to the intentions of wanting to change but ultimately sacrficing everything,most of all himself, because of being overtaken by addiction. So sad but true.

As a friend who has attended many funerals of friends and best friends, this song hits me so hard, i take all their pain on my shoulders, I try to help them, I try to be an ear, a shoulder, a heart, and when it's not enough and I lose them from that very last decision it hurts sooo bad I can't describe it, please, if you're battling it right now, find some way to get off it, no matter how much you think you have it under control and it can't happen to you, you know your doses, you know your dealers, etc, it can and will definitely be you! Please I'm begging you, get a clinic, get help, get out, please please please. 😭😭😭
