I've subscribed. I teach a lot of beginner rec classes. A huge problem is that kids today are quite physically illiterate compared to 15 or 20 years ago. It takes far longer than it used to to teach kids really basic skills like forward roll or jump 1/2 turn..e.g. learning to roll and stand up without pushing off the hands beside the butt. Kids won't tuck their feet in close enough. I run through a bunch of drills which show they are capable of doing it but then as soon as they roll again, BOOM, they slam their heels down 30-60cm away from their butt and they can't stand. This happens for months at all ages. Drives me nuts!

Could you go into a little more detail on why you teach front pikes before front tucks? Never heard that before and I'm curious. Thanks.

I've actually been out of the Gymnastics world for about 5 years. But I be leave it was because It teaches them go up more and to use their hips more.
