Mandatory Comment to help engagement stats. Also, I got some Ballistol one time on this channels recommendation. It seems to work just fine i guess! seems to crystalize when in excess, but that's an easy fix to remove, and just dont gunk it on like I tend to. Smells to high heaven, which I didn't expect when I first got it and it honestly freaked me out, but its not a terrible smell. But very pungent. I didn't think I would get it again, but if they sponsoring mom n dad, then I guess i gotta support em! Not that big a deal.

This is actually the episode I've been waiting for a while. My grandfather's general store apparently had some swedish (so I was told, they could have been norwegian) nagants come in the eighties apparently who knows, but I've always been interested in details about them. I Had in the 1980s a Swedish Nagant pistol and holster both marked with three crowns. I had sleeved barrel and cylinder to 22 long rifle all off set so the rims line up with the center fire hammer. It was a gorgeous rig. Ioved it-till I shot it. The cases fired or not, worked back after the first shot hitting the frame stoping it from turning. I sold it after informing the buyer that it did not shoot. I'll bet he still has that nice looking rig.

Not sure if it is real or my mind just forcing patterns, but it seems to me that the people involved in colonial conflicts pushed bigger, more powerful pistols versus those entirely focused on Europe. I assume the less certain (and often more insurgent) nature of fighting colonial conflicts in comparison to the expected formations marching around in Europe got people to realize that a pistol will actually be used rather than just carried because they need to carry something.

I'm really curious about the "dainty" bit and if it shouldn't rather be translated as "neat". A quick search through the paper by Johan Hansson doesn't seem to contain the quotation, though, so I'm not sure.

Same. Couldn’t find the right paper online. Only similar word I found in the article on the 1877-trials that I could find was ”prydlig”, which would translate to neat; tidy; smart. Also: Maybe the Husqvarna museum has some info on the 9mm Browning Long conversion.

It is a german company, so may be not so known in english language countries. It is today usually sold in spray cans. I still remember the glass bottles from my teenage years, the wrapped paper contained a PR text, in a dated style, so it caused some laughs, remembering this wrapped paper, we germans say, you can use Balistol for everthing, with exeption of drink it. Today this company has a number of products, to clean and care firearms, and , in contrast to 40/30 years ago, craftsmen of different professions use it also for not weaponrelated working.

It seems to be more rare in the last few years than formerly. It is the best gun/knife oil that I have found. You can use it on every firearm type there is. I use it on milsurps that use corrosive ammo, black powder firearms, modern firearms, and all my knives. It is awesome stuff. The last places thatI have found it were local gun shows. On line sales is probably the best option in some areas. It was originally developed for the German military and is unsurpassed.

uhhh, the russian nagants kind of because of the gas seal, but that is a different gun than any on this video, and really the gas seal mechanism is pointless and just makes it more prone to breakdowns. idk why the russians thought a gas seal was worthy of a service revolver. overhyped because "neat" like many a gun

Othais, Mae, and other C&Rsenal viewers, In the church scene in the first act of 'The Harder They Fall,' Nat Love is shown removing the spent casings from his revolver using an ejector rod. I didn't catch this upon first viewing but did in my second and I owe this to the revolver episodes of the Primer series. Some notes: A longer time ago, in a german arms magazine i read , that swedish revolver was used up to 1950s, may be early 1960s. According to those article, last users had been postal service and lighthouse service, some few guns had been changed for use of 7,65/.32 ACP, which was from 1920s to 1980s a common cartridge. In german language countries the word ,Landsturm' was also known, and in Switzerland used up to 1990s. In 19th/early 20th century this Landsturm was used for the units formed of properly trained, but elderly reserve soldiers. When wwl started, the Landsturm units had been not intended for full frontline service, only fighting enemy breakthroughs, their job was doing military work in rearline, away from front, which is underrated, but very important. As longer wwl lasted, also untrsined men came to army and got shortened military training, the older ones came to Landsturm, also men of younger age , when not realy fit for frontline service ( after accidents, war injuries or with health problems etc.) In 17th/ 18th centuries Germany, the armies consisted of professional soldiers, but there hat been still relicts of medieval/ tribal age levies (Aufgebote). In few cases not so well trained and equiped, but usefull militias, sometimes a mix of target shooters society, tradition keepers and police, but mostly units, badly trained and with dated weaponry. Such units could be used as guards, escorts, armed workers, may be to man field fortifications to defend a narrow valley. Landsturm is used as umbrella term for such low quality levies of 17th/ 18th century.

.32 ACP makes a ton of sense in that instance. A super common police type caliber in many European countries for a long time. Also, a huge amount of pocket pistols were made in that caliber, so ammo had to be reasonably available and cheap. Semi-rimmed, so you don't need to use moon clips.

This platform doesn't allow them to really talk about reloads much, but Utreon does, and Othias has talked on the podcast about getting his reloading people to start doing more stuff over there. From what I understand it's a process of custom dies and progressive shaping of modern cases, but he is keen to have that info available due to the safety it adds to the collectors market.

It's also great for barrels to prevent fouling. And good for leather and wood. (This is not a paid promotion - I actually love this stuff. Even bought a few of the bottles last year because I thought they were cool...) Congrats. This is a natural partnership.

I'd rather go with a .45 Colt down loaded as wimpy as possible and know I'm still throwing a half-ounce of lead than to take basically a light load .32 and think it's enough. I get their issue with recoil sensitivity but jeeze; you can't do any damage out yonder if it doesn't give you a little thump in the hand. That cartridge? Just about do better to carry ten or twelve revolvers on you to just tomahawk throw at the enemy. 250 grains at even 500fps is still going to do more than the little 7.5 could dream of. Sort of like a .22lr; very lethal, but not today, you die of sepsis in a week or two. .45 is today, now, this minute. When dude is shooting back at me, I'd rather have the quicker solution.

Primer 003 is from July 2015, so considering that there's two redone episodes that used to be before that we're just shy of 6 1/2 years of C&Rsenal. Gonna have to give us at least 6 months worth of curious ol' gats before you're allowed to toss in the towel. ... Also as someone with anxiety, I'm fine remembering that I want to see a modern materials Nagant-lockwork revolver with a swing-out cylinder more than whatever childhood memory still gives me second-hand embarrassment.
