Dawn you speak for most of us. I don't get why some folks feel it necessary to be critical of other's... unless they see a similar behaviour in themselves and feel ashamed. Its most likely their own insecurities that bring out the nastiness. I think they really are mentally unstable and cowards..... they'd never have the nerve to say it to their faces! lol. LOL some people just either don't listen or really hear dah. In the very beginning of your video CANDY you talked about "sandwich" and how you used fusible batting because you didn't like spray and pinning. In quilting "sandwich" means to take your top fabric, add the batting AND the backing it's as simple as that. Then you do your quilting of ALL three layers. Without ALL three layers you cannot QUILT it. For anybody that asked when do you add the backing? Well maybe taking some beginner classes IN PERSON at a local quilting shop will help more than you realize. Trust me I did because lovely video's, computers, and you tube were NOT available back then. It is a blessing these days to go online and to find soooooo much data and so many DIY videos. I thank YOU Candy for doing such a great job on explaining every detail and at length. God's blessings to you.

I saw all the comments about the ummms, really people? Cast that stone, oh of perfection. It’s a mannerism she’s developed, it wasn’t off putting when you let your ear hear it much as you would an accent. When you change your perception, like with accents, your ear doesn’t notice it. I have learned to QAYG using the back square as the front sashing. And I liked it ok but it takes a lot longer to make so I tried your method of quilting the rows and it’s great thank you. I was able to follow your instructions perfectly.

I’m still recommending this four (4) video series. I use this method now and it’s really easy. I’ve done this with and without Sashing. I’ve also stepped up my game and make the backing all one piece to start with. One less seam to deal with for me.

Very informative! I appreciate you putting the time and effort into sharing this with us. For those who felt the need to criticize: When someone criticizes something and you agree with it, it is not really necessary to just keep repeating the criticism. You're not really adding anything new to the conversation. You might want to ask yourself why are you really taking the time to point out something that has already been mentioned? I think it says more about the individual making the comment than the person who made the video.

Hi Candy, I am so glad I found your videos. I have watched all of them twice & the first video 3 times just to make sure I got it in my mind. I have a king size to quilt . I have done 2 king size before in my machine but never again. It wore me out tugging, turning & twisting! I have a larger harp area but I think it is only 8 or 9". Anyways I got the first column ready to quilt so wish me luck. I'm going to start it tonight. I'll try to repost after I get it quilted. Thank you so much for the awesome videos.

@@CandyGlendening and Jackie I am disabled and 80 per cent blind, QAYG is the only way I can still quilt. I have been looking for a simple method and I just LOVE your method and your teaching. I am also on a budget obviously because of the cost of healthcare. One thing I wanted to say even though this is a year old lesson have you considered Patreon? It is a wonderful way for instructors of craft, art, quilting anything that another person would love to do. I pay a monthly amount to two people who are Patrons (not the correct spelling but in English that is the correct spelling) why do I go off on tangents sorry! If you haven't heard of it you set up monetary amounts from $1 buy me a cup of coffee idea or $5, $10, $15 etc. each amount is a subscription that a person can join and leave at anytime without any reason but the Patron (for this I will say you) would have something that includes the level down with an extra perk. So one dollar is just a thank you. The others you might say that 5 dollars gives a members only early sneak peak etc. If you are interested check it out it is so good for me because I have learned so much. God bless you and I hope you continue to do well. Ignore the rude people and just remember that you have made a difference to the life of people life me and your other followers.

I dare those who throw stones to walk in her shoes before crapping all over her. As for them just trying to be helpful? Not a chance! There is a difference between constructive criticism and mean spirit to try to make yourself feel superior. I see it all the time in comments. Shame is on them. Thank you for the videos. You inspired me to get going on an easy quilt that I had been reluctant to start. I've done quilt as you go before, but it wasn't much easier than doing it the regular way. I was not happy with the sashing in the QAYG method. I never considered the fusible batting, and haven't found it locally. I did use some spray adhesive. I have started my quilt and your ideas really helped me.

I'm going to try your idea and I'm excited about it. I don't know if you have tried to use a pool noodle to roll-up your quilt as it goes past your machine. It helps me. some creative people s brains work faster than their brains sometimes their thought process needs a moment to catch up . and if you spend alot of time by yourself and don't converse with others the pause happens. people should just enjoy the beautiful free tutorial and look within the person s light . not their imperfections. I do my level best to never quilt as you go in rows and columns. This will give an accordion effect at first glance which can take time to go away. I break the piece into groups of 2-4 blocks and then attach them to each other 4x4 or 2×3 or 3x3. This way eliminates the accordion pleated look when you do it in straight rows and columns. And in fact, I can do panel quilts much the same way.

This method is exactly what I am needing to finish my own very large quilts. I don't want to do the "sashing method" as it takes too much time. There were a couple of very distracting things, but I just fast forwarded on down the road. Problem solved. I'm using the method with some success and will get better with time.

Interesting...I came to make a comment and read the chastisement comment from Dawn, et.al. I am a very observant person. But for the life of me I couldn't see anything in her video that was annoying! I decided to read no further and not search. I have a lovely Star quilt top for my grand niece who will be attending college on a scholarship this Fall. Northern Cali can get chilly and she deserves a STAR. But, it would cost me $250+ to have it quilted not including the binding and the shipping from Florida! I needed an alternative. I'm getting my supplies ready to qayg using your system. But I ran across a comment by the National Quilters Circle that you should never use the fusible batting because it can turn brittle after washing. Have you ever run across this problem with your own quilts? The batting package indicates that the 'glue' washes right out. I'm getting confused.........
