I found all four of these tutorials to be most enlightening. Thank you Candy for taking the time to explain each step. For us beginners, taking it slowly is just fine.

Great technique. I'll definitely be using this method. I use only 100% cotton batting instead of the fusible batting.. what if I cut the first strip of batting 1/2 " wider than needed and could loose stitch the next strip by hand or even run through the machine with a zip zag stich ? Thank you for this tutorial. My wife talked me into making her a queen sized quilt. Piecing and sewing the top together was easy. I can't afford to have a long arm quilter quilt it so I'm hand quilting it. NEVER AGAIN!!! All my quilts from now on will be quilt as you go

I've now watched all three of these videos and they're very helpful. I am very jealous of the speed at which you quilt too! I'm going to see if I can get fusible wadding here in the U.K as it is definitely well suited to this technique. Thanks!

Thank you very much for demonstrating this QAYG process. I am relatively new to quilting and the ditch stitching is getting old. You have made the whole process less intimidating and do-able.

I do this technique also on very large quilts. I like doing all the quilt myself. I surround myself with tables and coffee tables to make a large area to hold mu quilts. I sew in rows or start in the middle and work my way around the edges

What a clever way to quilt as you go! Do you like that Fusiboo? I saw some when I was trying to get a 80/20 bolt of regular batting for a reasonable price. (I didn't find any yet). I was wondering how it felt when it was in a quilt.

Hello Candy! I am about to finish my VERY FIRST QUILT!! I'm very excited about it, however, I don't have a longArm machine so I'm researching other ways...and I found you!! Yay! Anyway.. I'm so glad you showed us a great way to quilt ourselves!! Woohoo!! I do have a question for you...my sewing machine sits on my table in my sewing room, it doesn't sit IN the table FLUSH with my table. Did you make or buy your table? I'm nervous about it not being flush as yours is. Do you have any suggestions for what I should do or how I can get the proper table as you have? I'd appreciate any help at all. But thank you so much for the series you made so we can enjoy this technique too!! 👍👍💕💕😄😄🙋 PLEASE TRY TO ANSWER MY QUESTION THATS IN MY COMMENT AREA!! Thanks!! 🙋

Hi Elle! Hubby made me my sewing table, there are 2 holes sized for my 2 machines in it, I've got a blog post with lots of pix on how he did it here: www.candiedfabrics.com/2008/07/23/my-new-sewing-table/ Indeed, the sewing machine being flush is VERY helpful, but totally dealable if you don't have one. You want to make sure that ALL of the bulk of the quilt being quilted is up on a table so it doesn't drag on what you're moving, or on your lap. Depending upon your setup, you may want to set up a folding table or ironing board to your left, and possibly one in front of your main sewing table (if it isn't pushed up against a wall) to make this possible. Also, you want your chair really high, maybe even sitting on a couple of pillows and putting your machine pedal on a box so that your arms are at a comfortable 90 degree angle when you're quilting. Take it slow, stop whenever you feel something pulling you off course to readjust and have fun!!! Candy

I found this just in time before I quilt my top on my juki 98! Extremely informative videos !!!! Can you tell me what thread and needles you use . I am having thread gathering at needle base and thread breakage . Machine won't stay threaded more than 5 min 😕 it's threaded properly so it's gotta be tension,wrong needles. Please help if ya can ! Thanks in advance .😎
@itsmyparty46372 жыл бұрын
are you threading with the presser foot lifted? it must be lifted up or else the tensions are all wrong. New needle?

Do you ever rotate the quilt? I noticed that Leah Day starts in the middle, and rotates the quilt so she is always sewing towards herself.
