Over 9 years later, this is still probably the single most impressive acoustic fingerstyle song I've ever heard.

You and Maneli are my favorites, I cannot simply explain how happy you make me when I listen to both of you. You obviously manage all the fingerstyle techniques with perfection, but it's the imagination in your composition that distinguish you.

This guy is incredible...I've played finger style guitar over 40 years and I can't even relate to how good this guy is. I mean seriously, forget the ability to play it, but the knowledge and creativity to write it...unbelievable. I'm going to go chop my hands off now....

The moment that I saw that a Owen video was uploaded I immediately stopped doing what I was doing to watch this. I smiled throughout the whole video! What a perfect, amazingly thought out, well done, clever, amazing tune!!! My mind is blown away by the creativity and complexicity created to make those amazing sounds. I've never ever seen some of the techniques used in the tune.Pure genious.He's in a completely different league musically compared to other newage percussive fingerstyle guitarists!

Owen: Thanks for responding. Would you consider posting a workshop, also, where you would simply tell us how you come up with your musical ideas and show us how you translate them to your guitar, what tuning and chordings you use. Sort of an informal, but instructional chat with your fans, of which I am one. That would be very helpful and certainly most informative and would allow us to get to know you and your musical style that much better. Thanks, Mike

This song live is 100000x more impressive. He put so "FEELS" into it live. This is definitely epic, but I think he really outdid himself with his set at the CGF in 2012. Anyone else agree?
@cmillertime79 жыл бұрын
Marco Lively Aside from the second half of the song, where he is a bit off in this version, I thought this version was far better than the 2012 CGF. Both are great, though; one of the most impressive and powerful fingerstyle songs IMO.
@marcolively38919 жыл бұрын
+Azarai Yeah, I'd definitely agree that as far as timing and clean playing goes, this version is better. The reason I like the live version better is because it has a big sound to it, and he has this awesome swagger to his stage presence. He literally killed it on stage that day, the first time. I'm sure this version took 20+ takes, haha. Either way he is a boss.

@Enisrakete To me it looks like it only is the two lowest strings that not is affected by the capo. He's using the other half of the string that not is over the soundhole to create those notes! It's like normal fretted notes, except it's backwards and he somehow made all the notes on both sides of the capo match the key of the tune perfectly! Pure genoius.
@KasranFox12 жыл бұрын

@Jornibo he was still in beat..he was using a syncopated rhythm that crossed with amalgamation thus causing him to still be in sync with his tempo....i believe Sergio Altamura also used the same technique in his Villagio Globale song

@Rcmp4life The answer is, with his left hand. You always trim those so you can fret the strings. (From experience though, guitar nails and girls do not mix well at all... but even if you scratch them a bit, and they're upset, they still let you...)
@SalomonJakobsson13 жыл бұрын
@hueseph But even if you are huge fan of those guys, his playing style is still unique! The way he's using his capo, with diatonic notes on both sides of it (very well thought out) where he's using both sides of the string to play. He's also making a bigger change between treble/bass than normally by making the top 4 strings that high. And on the "stick" of the tune, he's moving the capo to get less difference between the two that gives him another spectrum of open notes to play with!
@Stevegoodine4 жыл бұрын
Awesome

I don't understand why people are criticizing this song for just being a "combination of techniques" or him trying to be flashy. If it was audio only, I'm sure they wouldn't think that. Just enjoy the music, guys. =)

always be a different understanding. A sarcastic text doesn't have to be understood in a sarcastic way. BUT there are structures that are very likely to be used when someone is being sarcastic/ironic. We as a rezipient read these structures along with the written words and are VERY LIKELY to understand the sarcastic text as such.
