There are guitarists that are good. There are guitarists who are excellent. There are guitarists who could be considered geniuses or virtuosos. Then there is the type of guitarist who demonstrates such an uncanny level of skill - such a prodigious amount of talent - that you think that he is not human. This sort of guitarist is on such a level, with his creativity and dexterity, that he makes you reevaluate your worth as a human being. Luca Stricagnoli is that type of guitarist. His playing, as demonstrated here, is nothing short of a superpower in its own right. I stand in awe of you sir!

I played guitar for 26yrs, I can no longer play. I was a passenger in an automobile accident and am now a quadriplegic, paralyzed from the shoulders down. Right after my accident, I could not even listen to music anymore for like 5yrs! Then I found this video. I got so emotional, I bawled my eyes out! Slowly now, because of your amazing talent... I can begin to enjoy music again... Thank you for that, Luca.

I saw this guy live. He performs this song last in his set because he says himself it's the hardest one he does. Any musician watching this will know just how amazing it really is (not that other people can't be equally impressed). But he has his guitar tuned so that when he takes a capo off, which was only half covering the fretboard, and moves the other one, he's switched keys from major to minor. Simple in theory, but I've never seen anyone else do it. Luca is playing the lead, rhythm, drums, bass, and vocals all at the same time. To tell you the truth, I'm not even really into this kind of playing. I like the Randy Rhodes and SRVs and Pages of the world, but this guy is on his own level.

I agree! Have played guitar for 25years but this is absolutely jaw dropping and up to last night I ranked Tommy Emanuel and his teknik at the top of guitar-porn but not anymore after dicovering Luca who I believe must have done a Robert Jonsson by selling his soul to the devil in exanged for this mega talent!

I imagine its pretty rare to be sitting there playing guitar and deciding, "ya know, one's just not enough. Hmm, two's not enough either. What if if we add a third set of strings to that other guitar. Ok, perfect!" lol, I'm gobsmacked.

I'm not sure which amazes me more: Luca Stricagnoli's incredible performance of this song on a dual guitar setup, or the thousand people who've disliked this video, combined with all the negative critiques of his playing ability. I play guitar, but am NOT an accomplished guitarist; however, because I've played the instrument, I recognize and appreciate the intense amount of focus and concentration that is required to play the rhythm on one guitar, while simultaneously playing the melody on a separate guitar. MOST people can only focus on doing one thing at a time. On any given day you can easily witness evidence of that fact if you drive a car on public roadways. I'll be driving down the highway behind someone going 10 or 15 miles below the speed limit, all the while observing them swaying from one side of the lane to other, and occasionally, they'll cross over into the adjacent lane, and then swerve back into their own lane. When I get to a place where I can pass them, as I go by, I'll look and see that they are talking on their cell phone, which is the very reason why they are driving so slowly and drifting back and forth in the lane. When people can't talk and drive at the same time without losing the concentration required to focus on their driving, then I think it's pretty damned amazing that this guy has such a high level of concentration and focus, that he can play two guitars at the same time, regardless of the arrangement.

I had the great good fortune of watching Luca perform this LIVE on Tuesday as part of the International Guitar Night US tour 2017. For anyone who doubts, there are no tricks here, other than pure virtuosity. He has to tune to three different capos on the main guitar before playing, and he does switch between them on the fly, all the while maintaining that wonderful percussion. Unreal. Unimaginable. Unforgettable. He shared the stage with 3 other talented guitarists, and the duets were incredible. The tour is in Natick MA tonight, and then they head out to the west coast. If you are going to be anywhere near one of the stops, you owe it to yourself to go. International Guitar Night 2017 Tour FEBRUARY DATES 14 Sun Valley Center for the Arts, Sun Valley ID 15 Ellen Theatre, Bozeman MT 16 Myrna Loy Center, Helena MT 17 Harris Center, Folsom CA 18 Herbst Theatre, San Francisco CA 19 Bankhead Theatre, Livermore CA 22 California Center for the Arts, Escondido CA 23 Bing Crosby Theatre, Spokane WA 24 Mount Baker Theatre, Bellingham WA 25 Kent Meridien Performing Arts Center, Kent WA 26 Warren Miller Performing Arts Center, Big Sky MT

So everyone's seen a guy play a 3-neck guitar at this point. But this here is so insanely creative and original and clever. He switches the capos around just before solo like a pro. He added a set of strings to one guitar just to get all the vocal notes tuned to an open string. His percussive skills on the guitar is amazing too. You'll probably never see a guitar player like Luca Stricagnoli anywhere. He's truly one of a kind.

I thought I would have seen it all with my 64 years of age, but what I am watching now is the climax of guitar playing. I am struck by Luca's calmness and ingenuity as he is playing his instruments at a level that clearly defies believe. Although this video was posted five years ago, I cannot help but leave a comment at this brilliant piece of performance.

oh man I love the way he didn't tone down the accompaniment during the solo. He actually turned it UP to flow with the lead properly and just played the solo within the rest of the mix. I've probably heard every cover available of this song especially solo and acoustic covers and this is the only one that kept the power of the original jam. Hell, he outclassed it. Mind-bending!

To any who say they will now give up guitar - DON'T !!!!- I too watched this awhile back (2017?) and it inspired me to learn a bit of fingerstyle guitar. A few Justin Johnson videos (i like blues) later i nowadays i too can play a pretty mean version of Sweet Child. I don't play it like this though...i play it like me....and if you don't give up you can play it like YOU... Luca has the Luca market sewn up. You can't be Luca but you can be you. Fingerstyle is just muscle memory the same as when you learned to fret chords....once upon a time that was hard to do and you had to correct your fingers when they landed wrong....some practice later and it is so second nature you haven't even thought about it in how long? and if you can play cowboy chords with muscle memory you can learn how to pluck a couple of strings with your fingers.... DON'T GIVE UP..!!

He has an amazing talent, and he has developed it brilliantly. That being said, I'm not giving up on my own guitar playing and hanging my head in shame, even though I am pretty lame compared to him. I enjoy my guitars, knowing full well that I probably will never be on that level. I don't care, I'm not trying to compete with him, I'm just striving to improve, and enjoy my playing. I love playing the guitar even knowing that he and many other great players are far ahead of me. Kudos to Luca, he is an inspiration, not a discouragement.

+Ivor Williams I probably feel worse for listening to this now than if I had 71 years old, because I'm aware that if I put a lot of effort at this age my brain can still pick a lot from it and learn efficiently, but I just don't, and instead feel bad for it...
@johneverts97327 жыл бұрын
You are never too old to learn or try. If you burn with a passion for something you will do whatever it takes. That's what we're watching here. An uncontrollable drive for expression. Amazing, isn't it?

Some points raised by this video: 1. It seems 252 people had siblings for parents. 2. How the FCK is that guitar still in tune by the end? 3. This is beyond amazingly good; I feel like my life just changed . . .

why would it be out of tune by the end?

@michaelhenggeler2238 жыл бұрын
botman So....it only works for those kinds of guitars, no other? those specifically.
@amibanani95968 жыл бұрын
***** I didnt said that, I said that it works best for acoustic, but if your gonna do it on electric you might wanna have it a bit amplified to here it better.

Ok, so you can play a difficult song on guitar. And the bass line. And percussion. And, hell, a second guitar too. But I bet you can't play the solo flamenco style. Luci: take a seat...

Not a big fan of the word ''talent'', as I think pretty much anything can be achieved through hard work. But stuff like this makes me think if that here applies to all things. This kind of performance is so insane and amazing that I'm not sure if hard work and intense practice are the only requeriments for this. Maybe there is such think as talent, after all.

To the people who are comparing themselves with this genius and think they suck: complicated doesn't mean better for ear. Even if u play 4 chords it can sound good as long as its clean, melodic and has soul, many good songs contain only 4 or less chords. Some complicated solos and rhythm sections in metal music, for example, sound like total crap, even tho they are way over technical than lets say, Beatles, still they sound incomparable better. Anyway, music doesn't need to be complex to be good, all you beginner guitarist still have chance to sound good!
