Finally, I'm able to see the final cutscene because the cutscenes on my old copy many years ago wouldn't play for some reason. ...W-...Wait... He only came for the golden frogs? What were all of those other frogs he was saving, then?! Well, I wouldn't blame him. They all seemed to spontaneously combust upon touching them anyway. Also. They have Frogger playing on the floor of their backyard. How do frogs obtain this kind of technology? And why is all of this just sitting behind a huge stone door in the middle of a jungle? What even started this in the first place? :U All humor aside, and I think I've said this before, but this is such a beautiful game. I played this game to death when I was a kid, and finding all of the golden frogs was fun, but what really mattered to me was exploring every single bit of the game!

Recently played this game against for the first time in like a decade, was a very good few hours of fun. I am surprised not to see the skip in Desert 5 here, I expected that to be more well known given how much of a nightmare the beetles are to get past. To explain, you can just start going up the left boulder path and jump off to the right behind the cactus. Much easier way to get to the pelican and the right boulder path than the three rows of beetles.
@CaneofPacci5 жыл бұрын
Yea, that's since been pointed out, but this TAS was made in 2014 and the script is not compatible with the current best PS1 TAS emulator. Otherwise I'd think about going back and improving the handful of levels with better strats.

Interesting glitch: On the "Time Flies" level, if you jump off the birds after you missed the platform, you'll warp STRAIGHT to the Blue frog! Plus, here's something interesting I discovered: If you return to Tropical Trouble after you complete it a 1st time, it'll change around completely: No Crocodiles, No Rhinos, No Monkeys, No Man-eating Plants, more Jungle Animals appear such as Toucans, the time limit is infinite, there are no Baby frogs to rescue and another bridge appears infront of Frogger! I'm assuming you have to return to this level for any gold frogs you missed.
Awesome TAS. Though I wonder how many frames super jumping cost. You can hop normally over the beetles at 43:53 since they go fast enough to allow you IIRC.

So given the nature of how TAS runs actually work, how long does something like this actually take to complete?
@CaneofPacci6 жыл бұрын
This is something I had worked on over a several month period but there was pretty substantial periods of time where I didn't work on it. Also, I speedrun this game and had done extensive testing prior to working on a TAS so that simplified the process. Additionally Frogger is a very simple game to learn the frame timings for inputs so I was able to reduce the overall resets required compared to a more open 3D platformer. I would estimate in total I spent probably 40 or so hours working on this project specifically which is very very small compared to most TASs.
@GalaxianSR5 жыл бұрын
Technically this is a human theory TAS, alluring goal it is. I may try this game, I enjoyed it casually, doing it fast will be fun, see how good humans can do in comparison to this. There's only like 2 submitted runs on speedrun.com unfortunately, so my efforts will likely go under the radar, but self satisfaction is more important
