In some instances, the lioness would turn against the lion for acting so aggressively. Lions testosterone levels spike when they are among their lioness. That is a clear give away why they are so aggressive. Tigers don't need to get aggressive. They are naturally ferocious and strong. They would rather avoid unecessary conflict. The Tiger and and Lion know each other. THEY ARE IN AN ENCLOSURE TOGETHER IN A ZOO. This behavior the Lion shows with females is the same against male Lions. There are vids in Everland for example of a Lion doing something very similar in this kind of a situation with another Lion it knows. It gets possessive but not overly aggressive. It is not shy, just possessive of the Lioness.
