Are there even a few channels? I don't know of another channel that explains the 3 modes. The others only explain double action or single, and don't address the slide movement to get back to single. As a new joiner to the sport who was debating between tp9sa and tp9da, this video sold me on the da. I want to the ability to train with the light trigger of a single and heavy trigger of a double.

Yes indeed! The DA is a dream and the trigger is one of the best parts. It's a real shame that people didn't understand that gun. Or, on second thought, maybe it's a good thing. They are still easy enough to find even with all this covid/Floyd panic buying. Now, if I can find some more ammo...

As the owner of several Canik handguns, I can honestly say that it seem both the designers and the craftpeople over in Turkey working on these weapons didn't ask how much crap can we stick on our guns, but rather asked, "What would I want on the gun I carry to defend myself?" and it shows.

Wow awesome job on trigger functions, ur the 1st guy in review to mention after u decock that u can reset fire pin by 1/4 inch movement of the slide, I own the series 1 in fde since they came out, it has the decock button that goes across the whole top of slide, it works the same, can't say how many rounds if shot thru it but has been absolutely flawless, canik did away with the decock feature so I haven't bought anymore, but now decock is back my next investment is going to be 3 of these tp9 da in bronze for each of my vehicles, thanks for great explanation on ur video.

Excellent review! The Canik TP9 DA model is poorly misunderstood by many people out there, mainly by gun owners that all they want to do is just "pull the trigger" 😁 (I am being sarcastic a bit) and don't want to learn to deal with a decocking system. The TP9 DA is actually a modern flawless design. It can be staged in 3 firing modes, depending on the individual training and dexterity of the shooter: - One mode is in double action first shot by decocking the pistol after racking a round in the chamber, with subsequent shots in single action (ideal stress mode for police agencies and novices). -The second mode is, racking the slide to load a round in the chamber and not decocking the pistol, making the first shot a long "take up" trigger without resistance until it clicks in the single action, and you can then fire it (IF SO is warranted!). -The third mode is for the professionals (Anti-stress), which it's racking a round in the chamber and carefully using the safe action blade system in the trigger to stage it in single action only. This staging mode is NOT recommended for novices and amateurs. It takes an advanced level of pistol craftsmanship to utilize mode #3. Indeed, Canik makes amazing handguns! The TP9 DA is a pistol with 3 firing modes. So: "you do you." That is: whatever you prefer and you are comfortable with.

I have the Elite and the SFX. Incredible pistols for the money. I was interested in the DA as I typically carry DA/SA hammer fired pistols and train with them. Finally found a TP9DA in the wild yesterday (before seeing your video) and was able to evaluate the trigger system. The thing that put me off, that I wasn’t expecting, was the safe trigger feature in SA. The only time the trigger stays all the way back in SA is if you hold it back on the reset. Otherwise it swings all the way forward requiring a long two stage takeup with resistance up front. I just can’t get comfortable with that. It’s not a bad feature but different enough from a traditional DA/SA system, I don’t think I’d ever feel comfortable with it in rotation. The DA pull was just ok. Pretty gritty with considerable stacking, but not excessively heavy. The other negative was the lack of serrations on the top of the slide, and up front. Decided this pistol wasn’t for me, and I really thought it would be. Great review and detailed explanation. Thank you.

How analogous is the Canik TP9DA to the Walther P99as? As you've heard, the Walther P99as is getting a final addition. Now's the time to collect one, or two😃, before they're gone 😔. However, don't want to shoot them that much now that they'll be collectable. Would this Canik make a good substitute for shooting?
@GBGuns Жыл бұрын
Yes, this pistol is effectively a clone of the P99 design and has all of the same general features. Ergonomics and some small details are of course different, but if you want the advantages of the P99 AS system, and to know where the now-famous excellent Canik trigger comes from, this is the model to have.

I have one just like it...love it! It's actually just like the TP9V2 which I also have and love. I think the trigger is a tad better in the DA than my V2 but both are very good. I love the burnt bronze too...the video doesn't do it justice to my eyes compared to real life (especially outside). But to each their own. I'd mention too folks seem to always have ejection problems with Canik pistols but neglect to understand these require NATO spec'd rounds. So the cheap factory 115gr plinking loads might or might not be sufficient. I reload my own 9mm ammo so it's never once had an ejection problem. Cheap 115gr (or even 124gr) factory ammo might have a wimply ejection and once in awhile had a failure to eject. But with decent to good quality defensive rounds (or good reloads) never a problem at least on my pistols. All of my Caniks are the same in that respect which I have no problem with. A friend who is an avid Glock guy is coming around too...he seriously wants one just like this now after shooting mine. :-) Thanks for the video.

Cool. My (OD Green version) Elite has done fine too, but in all fairness I haven't put much factory ammo through it. It's seen a steady diet of +P JHP's though and continues to rock. LOL The other Canik's I own have done fine also with some factory ammo...Fed & Win are decent and usually have sufficient powder charge. But that is not the case with all. Seems to me those that were complaining about failure to ejects were running lower quality factory loads though. I thought I would mention it because those who have problems really should try a different ammo and/or have someone "in the know" watch them shoot to make sure they aren't limp wristing. Even Glocks will have failure to ejects if that is happening. Cheers.
