Kaj Pindal's animated short from the late 1970s features a canine narcotics officer who burns out after sampling a little too much product. Driven by his love of cannabis, a street dog displays incredible promise for the drug squad when he chases down a local dealer. He makes headlines worldwide as he takes on smugglers and crime lords. But when his drug habit and his work inevitably collide, a clear message emerges: dogs and cannabis don't mix.

What's the ethical and legal justification for forbidding something that isn't harmful to anyone, most cases not even to the one who consumes it? No government has the right to forbid people to have pleasure by an activity that doesn't cause harm to anybody else, even if this activity is harmful to the person who's willingly doing it. Practically all the problems that come from drug consumption are rather caused by drug traffic, which is in turn a direct consequence of prohibition. Most societies didn't pay attention to what's considered today "illegal drugs" until late 18th century China, under Qing dynasty's rule, and later in the early 20th century United States, which was the time when the prohibition expanded globally. Nations with millennia-long drug use integrated in their cultures slavishly followed United State's prohibition example; but curiously when the experiment of alcohol ban failed and the United States lifted the ban on their culturally-widespread drug, these other countries didn't do the same with their own culturally-widespread drugs. What a spineless bunch. Drug prohibition came from a collective hysteria probably like today's BLM, radical feminism or gender theory.

some of the best natured and best behaved dogs I've met smoked cannabis. I'm not talking about people locking animals in a room while hotboxing or forcing them to smoke, I've seen dogs who went to their owners who were smoking ganja and begged for some. I felt sorry for these animals as I thought it was irresponsible and kind of cruel, but the dogs seemed happy and healthy. I don't know...
