How to identify canine pancreatitis
Canine pancreatitis can be acute or chronic. Both can have symptoms ranging from mild to severe.
Acute pancreatitis
Acute canine pancreatitis occurs suddenly without a previous history of the disease.
It happens in two circumstances:
-When the dog consumes excess fatty food, leftover food and other foods not recommended for dogs.
-Or in cases of stress: such as changes in routine, arrival of a new dog or moving house.
Chronic pancreatitis
Chronic pancreatitis develops over time, slowly and quietly.

Control of Canine Pancreatitis in the Short Term
Fast
Fasting will allow the pancreas to rest, keep it free of food for up to 48 hours.
Allow your dog to take small sips of mineral water or with the aid of a spoon or syringe, give 3 tablespoons to a medium-sized dog.
Bland Food
Once you realize that fasting has alleviated your symptoms, slowly introduce a small amount of food. Light foods, such as broths (see soup recipes here).
Let the broth cool and remove the excess fat before giving it to your dog, to keep the fat to a minimum. The ideal composition of this temporary diet would look like this:
-25% Quality and fresh protein;
-Less than 5% fat;
-Less than 5% of carbohydrates and
-The remaining 65% of water
