Fascinating video.The tormented genius Alan Wilson wailing away on the guitar. Perhaps the most talented man in the history of the blues genre.This song tells the strange story of one of Alan`s many failures with women. Who knows....maybe if some sweet woman had fallen for Alan, he`d be alive today.She could have helped Alan cope with his alienation and depression. God, Alan`s fate was sad.

Music WITHOUT COMPROMISE. Alan's voice- raw falsetto, certainly not commercial or polished but GENUINE. Alan's lyrics, half the time they don't even rhyme - but they are REAL. Gotta love him.

The Blind Owl sang this song with such heartfelt feeling that you can almost feel his pain.

Man, I wish they would take these vids, clean 'em up and sort the sound and then release it on DVD. I would buy it and enjoy it every day.

The "Blind Owl", such a good heart and so much soul. John Lee Hooker paid him highest regards. Taken from us much too soon... Thanks to KZbin for keeping this music alive. Kids (people under 40!) simply missed out on some good stuff and I hope vids like this touch some young hearts. Music is so confused and almost lost in the 21st Century that I don't know what could compare to the 50's through 70's stuff that I grew up with. Maybe I'm just getting old...

i'm from the hip hop generation and i feel blind owl's emotions. he wasn't the best singer, technically, but boy, his soul bleeds throughout his music. canned heat was a awesome band.

Alan was always so modest, letting his bandmates have the visibility and attention...although we know part of that was likely the growing clouds of his depression. Having suffered severe depression myself, I know how it ravages one's interest and concentration. A brilliant mind and often ebullient spirit was under siege, and I am sure your heart, like mine, breaks for the pain he experienced. Loved that man/will love that man forever.

I'm Alan's biggest fan here, but anyone else notice that he always messes up his lyrics? he did it here, he does it live with On the Road Again and Human Condition. I never noticed before because he makes it sound like it was supposed to come out that way . I love Alan and Canned Heat!

I have watched this everyday for the last solid month and tonight was the first time I noticed Fito dropping his stick at 4:29 and he just snags it back up and plays it off all cool like. What a true pro!

Truly the only band that could replicate the hardcore blues sound of the 20s & 30s.... ala Son House, Skip James, etc.... primarily due to Wilson's slide & falsetto ......... Many Canned Heat tunes are, and will continue to be, timeless classics for years to come for the fans yearning for that 'roots of blues' sound.

Have used this great tune as a break up song 2x. "If you don't want my company, you can go straight to hell"......epic. With volume up to 11 it gets the point across to the offending party and is almost cathartic.

"Does the insensitive little bitch know that she has been immortalized in blues music?" Ha! I've wondered about that myself, many times... God knows where Al found her, Fito didn't mention it, but at least saw her in person... and that description of Alan sitting alone afterwards (when Fito came back after his night out) was heartbreaking...

@Defferding what are you talking about? you can't view the blues under a microscope Alan is total BLUES he is /was the essense of what the blues all about.
@BrianDefferding14 жыл бұрын
Man, Blind Owl's singing wasn't anything close to what either mainstream or old school blues was, but it was just as heartfelt as old school blues. Too bad the blues became too much for him. He would have made some more great music.

No.Wilson was much different than Hendrix with respect to women.Alan was not physically attractive.He was rejected by women.This was a rock star who struck out with girls.Unlikely-but true. Alan needed female individualized love. Might have changed his life.I don`t say it definitely would have.But Alan had a deep need here-and it tormented him.

Aw, come on, it's not about the girl. Blues musicians on the road don't meet "sweet women", they meet groupies. The kind of woman that might have saved Alan Wilson would be at home making apple pies and growing a garden. Not picking up musicians. Very sad, but I don't think a "sweet woman" would be able to deal with all the drugs and his heavy depression. Jimi Hendrix was not lacking in female attention, but his girfriends didn't save him - they were druggies, too.
@BrianDefferding14 жыл бұрын
@zelenious Since when was I viewing it under a microscope? Alan was total blues indeed, I agree with you. But his voice wasn't similar to the Delta legends, it was something brilliant in his own right. That's what I was trying to say.

@1994g0 Lets face it, not all women deserve respect. Just like not all men do. But to have to treat someone with respect, when they clearly have no respect of others, based purely on their gender is by it's very definition sexist.
