Sir as i see canned motor pump in refinery, there is also two water line in body,one is suction and another one is discharge.my question is,is it cooling medium for pump???

Water is a good lubricant and coolant. So there are both possibilities for water, as process fluid as well as coolant.

Thanks for the question! We cannot see the rotation of pump as pump motor is sealed within the body. However, pump rotation direction can be checked indirectly by head measurement.

The application of active magnetic bearings as an alternative has been outlined especially for chemical pumps. In the design phase of the electromagnets, the static magnetic forces have first been calculated analytically and bearings shall be designed as per existing radial, axial load and lubrication.

Canned motor pumps are used in handling of D2O ( heavy Water) and performance is found satisfactory. Water itself work as lubrication and cooling of bearings.

Which sealless pump have more efficiency ? Mag drive pump or Canned Motor Pump ? When we can use mag drive pump ? When we can use canned motor pump ?

Magnetic drive and canned motor pumps both are seal less pumps. Both pumps are efficient. Due to magnetic losses in mag pump, canned motor pumps are better. Canned motor pumps can be used when precious liquid are handled. Canned motor pumps are dedicated to a design load. If end users need to change duty conditions (flow, head, specific gravity or viscosity of the liquid), then they cannot use the original canned motor pump because the power may be insufficient for the new parameters. A new pump may be required. Mag drive pumps use standard motors (IEC or NEMA) and if the duty point changes, the same pump can be used with minor modifications. Mag drive pumps are used for acid, alkali handlings widely.
