My absolute favourite thing about Paul's playing is when he plays rock solid alternating kick and snare "skank beat" or hammer blasts and plays completely disassociated right hand rhythms on the ride, it's not even 5 against 4 it's just kind of random but the kick and snare stays so tight, I have no idea how he does it. It just sounds chaotic and badass.

I'm the first that loves tight playing and technically sound players, but everything doesn't have to be metronomically perfect all the time. Not saying that you have to be a sloppy mess, far from it, but it's nice to hear organic playing with little imperfections here and there giving more character to the music. Everyone can blast and double kick tightly to high bpms these days, but not sounding boring and like a robot is becoming harder also.

For me as a drummer it sounds a bit sloppy at first. But way to consistent if he would not do it on purpose. So i think it‘s just a way to play it more creative. …and i fcking love it! Btw. I get what you're saying, but I think not everyone is striving to become some sort of "almighty drummer". Maybe all that matters for the guy is the fact he can still play all these songs for so long. I personally fell inspired when I see this kind of thing, ~35 years and still doing what he loves.

@@zcryamk completely agree with your point. But still, not my kind of drumming. Thank you.

try playing along to Cannibal tracks... I find it harder than some tracks that are way more technical and played to a click...
