Hi Ola, I just want you to know that you are the only youtuber who can make a video that keeps me watching to the very end. My son has been watching your videos since the beginning and got me into your channel as well, and I'm not even a guitar player. We both love your sense of humor and the direction the channel has been going lately. Thank you so much for all the effort you put into your channel and always keeping us entertained. I know for a fact that every one of us always appreciates your hard work. Cheers, Susan

Marshall Valvestate plus a Korg Toneworks G1, a multi use pedalboard. Has multiple different kinds of distortion/OD, Wah-Wah, delay, EQ and Noise Reduction. This is important because this Korg G1 is what makes the Pierced from Within tone. Otherwise just go with the same shit you see here in C# rather than Eb. Maxon OD plus a Mesa, Peavey or even a sim. This will get you an even more powerful, mid-focused sound than a Dying Fetus setup would, which is pretty much a budget equivalent lmfao. That would be an Engl with it's stock preamp distortion options, or if you have the cash (which at that point why aren't you buying a Peavey 6150 or a Diezel anyways) you buy a EVH 5150, then it's just stock distortion line. With a lot of these tones it's Line In > Plug into Amp > Learn to pick cleanly, aggressively and efficiently is the secret asides from a noise gate and a distortion/OD lmfao, no magic comes from a cool pedal on death metal really. You need enough gain, yet have enough tone control of that added gain. That's it. Not a single special tuning, not a single special jack shit. Devourment, a slam death metal band notorious for their low tuned chugga guitar, recorded Babykiller in Eb. Cannibal Corpse used Eb until they got 7 strings in the early 00s, Chuck Schindler used D or C# for many years on his B.C. Rich, a comfortably higher tuning than most of the death metal he influenced at the time, for example Entombed and all sweedish bands adored B and C standard. In other words just set up your guitar right and you'll be rocking well.

Pat O'Brien is one of the best rhythm guitarists in the metal scene. There may be better shredders out there, but Pat's riffs are just TIGHT. Also, an amp setup like this is hard to handle at loud volumes. Let's see the average bedroom guitarist pull that off :P

My solar guitar just arrived from thomann. I have to say i was a bit skeptical when i ordered it but i'm completely blown away by the sheer quality of the instrument.The guitar definitely feels like a 1000 euro or dearer instrument even though it only cost around 700 euro.The pickups are definitely its strongest quality.Great clear mids and low end for metal and even some single coil tones for bluesy crunchy stuff.Well done Ola great work!

The later Cannibal Corpse albums' guitar tones are basically my holy grail of guitar tone. There's stuff that works in other settings, I really like really messy rhythm tones for instance, but for BEEF, and just 'the best', I always end up with their stuff.

Nick Williams Mick used a Rocktron Pirahna preamp into a Mesa poweramp on the album, then later going with a Marshall JMP-1 preamp live and then switching to a Fryette Pitbull UL for Iowa. Jim on the other hand used whatever he could get his hands on (Laneys, Marshalls, Mesa Boogies) for playing live through '99 and '00 and then a Mesa Boogie somethingsomething for Iowa. I'm not sure 100% sure what Josh used for the s/t album, if I recall it was a modded Marshall head that Ross brought to the studio

Joe Jane expensive.....u mean gathering the same type gear they actually used ? Hell ya it would be. I never looked into wut they ised mich. Other than rigrun down and signature gear demos. Pretty cool it he ised a laney. I really dig that new BL amp line laney put out. No doubt i. Or anyone for thay matter. Could get some awsome tones out of those amps.
@Slamthulhu
@Slamthulhu 6 жыл бұрын
+Joe Jane Not really, Both Pirahna's and JMP-1's are easy to track down and are quite cheap, the only thing that would be semi-expensive would be getting the right Mesa poweramp or a Fryette Pitbull UL (which is fucking hard to track down when you live in scandinavia) for the Iowa sound

Early Cannibal Corpse tone was due to them using an Ampeg VH-140C. You can get a SnK VHD Pedal which is the overdrive preamp of the VH140C in a pedal. Closest to tube distortion that a solid state amp ever got.

Did I hear right that they tune to E flat?
@brandoncurtin1947
@brandoncurtin1947 5 жыл бұрын
Some of their old material is in E flat. Most of their music is played on seven string guitars tuned to B flat, and drop A flat for the newest songs. The gist of their tone is EMG 81-7 / Fishman Fluence pickups, Maxon ST9 (or Ibanez TS9, close enough), followed by a Mesa Dual or Triple Rectifier. Set the overdrive pedal volume level to high, gain to zero or nearly zero, and you are all set.
@brandoncurtin1947
@brandoncurtin1947 5 жыл бұрын
Also, Pat O'Brien uses a Keeley modded Metal Zone pedal for solos. It is basically a mid saturated distortion pedal with a good portion of the treble cut out. This removes the slicing characteristic of the Dual/Triple Rectifier's gain circuit and allows the single note solos to be heard in the mix.
