One can see where Winston gets his ability to tell a good story.

@grace - Yes, been following Winston for many years. He and C-Milk are proper entertainers. Then a couple years ago, I found Winstons father. So much fun. Cheers!

Listening to your stories SA, now I know why, being born and growing up in Rhodesia and Zambia, I always felt 'on edge' in the background of my life, especially spending school holidays in the bush, even though I never encountered or experienced any threatening wild life. One school holiday in Zambia out nowhere, my Dad had a temporary wooden accommodation (sawmilling) and I recall all night hearing a creature loudly gnawing at my bedroom wall. As a child I found that rat? sound simply terrifying. By the way, I had farming relatives who had tame lion cubs though I lived in Australia by then.

Another story that kept me on edge! I can just visualize the scene. You've told stories that show wild animals have reasoning powers we are not really aware of.

Back when my dad was a kid, they used to have a chain of wild animal parks here in the US called Lion Country Safari and back in the day you could drive through the park in your car and animals including lions could roam freely around your car and when my dad’s family drove through it he watched lions hop up and flop down on the bed of the pickup truck in front of him! 😂 As you might imagine there were mishaps (and after hearing the stories on the channel I can see why) and eventually all but one park closed, with the remaining park keeping lions segregated from cars by a fence now. It’s also worth noting Lion Country Safari was one of the inspirations behind the park in both the book and movie Jurassic Park, with the park’s logo, gates and mishaps being partially based on LCS.

Had to listen to this one twice, so good. Suppose the lioness had gotten an inch into the door space before it slammed shut. In the Bible it is said Samson tore a young lion apart with bare hands. Well, it must have been very young, or possibly a small breed of cat.

I think you have Lion PTSD !!! Both encounters, but especially the first sound terrifying !! I find Lions beautiful but I strongly believe they should be left alone & not shot for sport. Recently (2021) there was a Dentist (from the NY area) who went to a Sanctuary & killed a Lion & another animal. It was clearly against the laws in the Sanctuary but he ended up just being fined, which enraged many people. In America, where we see Lions on TV, as in "Born Free" where Elsa was tame & brought her cubs to see Joy after she was released (If the story is to be believed..of which there is doubt) & animation like "The Lion King"..or we see them in Zoos..we have NO IDEA how deadly they are until we watch National Geographic shows when we grow up. Excellent story..I love learning things from you !!

@@SurvivingAfrica yes it feels more authentic that way and relaxed. Also it shows what you are thinking about and feeling while telling the story. For example when you pause or speak faster, its noticeable. Just like sitting next to you by the fire :) I am glad your son recommended the channel
