I just took out 5 jars of milk from my Nesco. When this popped up on my feed. I did everything exactly as you did. 😊 Except, used store bought milk. Have canned milk for many years and had no problems. So nice to have on the shelf. I usually use my All American but this is the first time with my Nesco. (love m Nesco)

Wow, only 1 minute. That's great. Thank you for this video! I was taught that when the timer ends, I need to unplug the machine for deventing. You didn't do that so I guess it's not necessary. It's nice to learn new things to make it easier.

I’ve used my stove, top canner for milk, but not my Nesco. With the stove top, I use room temperature milk and then slowly get it up to full heat and build the pressure. I never thought of heating it first and putting it in the Nesco warm and then bringing it up to temperature. I knew that room temperature milk in the Nesco would take it up too fast and likely cause it be more caramel color

@@wrightfamilyhomestead I did, but the fresher the milk at time of canning seems to be the ones that lasted. If it was on its way out, those didn’t last on the shelf. I do have some that have been on my shelf for 2 years and they’re fine :)

I have a electric presto pressure canner totally love it....wonder if it works the same as the nesco to vent for 10 minutes. i want to try this tomorrow because were going to get some fresh heavy cream from a farm and i would love to try canning it. Haven't found a video for heavy cream for this electric canner, would anyone know if it would be the same process?

I have looked for a chart that shows processing times = I have a Nesco too. Doing this milk would be wonderful -- it is just me (I live alone) and I waste milk - a qt isn't enough for a week, but 1/2 gal is too much.

I just found your channel the other day and I'm so impressed by you and your tips and tricks for canning. I do have a question for you though. I have an electric Presto canner so its a bit different from yours. It has a canning button as well so if I decide to do dairy products (milk) would I put everything in at room temp and allow the pressure to build on its own. Then pressure can it for 10 min and let it come back to temp. before I take the jars out?

@carolt39210 ай бұрын
@@carriegroell9487 The mason jar vacuum sealers are only for dry goods... you can pack crackers, chips, flour, rice, dry beans, dry cereal, etc. in mason jars and vacuum seal to remove the oxygen and extend their freshness. I have tortilla chips I vacuum sealed in jars when they were on a big sale over a year ago - opened a jar recently to make some nachos and they are crispy and fresh just like the day I packed them. I also do the same with pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds - so far, seeds I packed 3 years ago are still fresh as can be.

It is in my old canning book so they used to think it was okay. I wonder if they stopped recommending it because of a quality issue not a safety issue. They have stopped recommending some veggies because of the texture not safety. They are in my old books I have.
