Hi Fellas, thanks for going to the trouble of producing & sharing. Did the CSR a few yeras back on the tail end of a big wet and got caught (two vehicles) crossing Lake Gregory. Only saw one other vehicle on the entire journey. It turned into one serious adventure. Anyways, enjoyed reliving one of the most epic tracks in the world. One Life - Live It ! Mike Rowley.

Excellent; thanks from Auckland New Zealand, for sharing your holiday. It reminded me of our 6000 km trip with my Aussie cousins from Brisbane to Birdsville and back via Broken Hill, Innamincka, strzelecki track, Birdsville and back in August 2016, we had so much rain and lightning, I was totally amazed as to how much rain they can get in the outback, obviously it's not all the time but it still amazed me.

I could almost smell those sausages 6:04 17:48 Murray Rankin information (c/o wiki) 1972, New Zealander, Murray Rankin, and two English brothers, John and Peter Waterfall, fashioned homemade trolleys from bicycle wheels and metal tubing, and began their attempt starting from Wiluna in early June 1972. First John and then Peter turned back, but Rankin continued to Lake Disappointment before being forced to abandon the attempt. The remains of one of their trolleys lie 19 km north of Well 15. 1973, Rankin tried again, this time starting from Old Halls Creek with Englishman John Foulsham. This time they had professionally built trolleys with motor-cycle wheels. The walk began on 1 June. Soon after reaching Godfrey's Tank they were unable to pull the trolleys over the high sand hills. They left them and walked on to Lake Tobin and there abandoned the attempt and returned to Halls Creek. 1976, Rankin achieved his ambition to walk the stock route. After driving the route in a Land Rover and establishing food depots along the way, he set out from Halls Creek on 12 July 1976 with three other bushwalkers, Ralph Barraclough, Kathy Burman and Rex Shaw. Barraclough turned back after becoming ill, but the others completed the journey in just under three months.

A great videography, loved every minute. Nice to see a DOP involved. Fires at night - be aware that the local wood that you collect and then burn might be ground habitat for local fauna. We carry firewood on our trailer from our Canberra base. As well as heat beads. Given that, we are aware of when a fire is appropriate and relevant, or not. And are cautious with our solid fuel. The Thorny Dragon that you handled off the road could have done with a little dousing of water after handling. Handling native fauna is just not on. Would you pick up a snake? Don't chase camels or emus down a track. They get distressed, just back off and wait. Roads are closed for more than a couple of reasons - chopping up the track, bogging and 'widening' the track. So don't drive a closed track. Your vehicle might be able to get through but maybe the next one won't be able to get through. In WA, NT and QLD it's about a $4,000 fine per wheel when bogged on a closed road/track. Subscribed.

I dont want to carry to much extra fuel, and obviously dont want to run out either. So far, the toyota carries 166L and the trailer has 140L. Any data you can share would be very much appreciated. Also, this is a very good video. Thank you both.

How exciting. You will really enjoy the challenge. You should probably work on 25 litres to the 100km. So 300 litres should give you a range of around 1500km. That gives you some choices re how much you fill up at Kunawarriji community. Enjoy the trip and keep me posted on your adventures.

In the future please don't take trailers on the CSR, they damage the track significantly and the amount of abandoned trailers on the edge of the track is truly heartbreaking. It may not seem like a big deal and even silly to bring this up, but it's just very very careless,
@Adventure8 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and commenting. There is no argument to travelling light. A trailer can provide some creature comforts but the downsides can be far greater on difficult and isolated terrain, such as the CSR. There are numerous burnt out 4x4 littering the CSR which means things can go horribly wrong. Hopefully, anyone watching my outback videos will learn to be well prepared, be safe and leave locations as you found them.
@Kurtis11266 Жыл бұрын

Bloody Cooper tyres. Still the same rubbish, popping sidewalls and throwing the tread off the casing. They havent learned much. Better 4x4 tyres then Cooper. Was thinking of getting a set but after seeing this FORGET IT.
@Adventure87 жыл бұрын
steinwaygrande: Cooper Tyres have actually been the best for me. I think the reality of the puncture I received must have been from an earlier trip where I might have spiked the tyre. Nevertheless I still prefer Coopers over many other brands. Just my opinion for what it's worth.
@steinwaygrande97367 жыл бұрын
Not a problem. Just that I have not only seen shredded tyres and burst sidewalls with Coopers, plus they did get a very bad rap at one stage. Perhaps the latest tyres are superior then the early batches. Each to their own. Used to run Goodyear MTR,s for years. Okay ,never got great mileage from them, but by hell they were tough. Then they lost the plot entirely and Maxxis and Hankook seem to have taken over that segment in the market. I currently run General Grabber A/Ts after being told not to buy Procomp A/T . Strange that one doesn`t see any Procomp tyres these days, unless I am in the wrong place at the wrong time
