Hi Ben, I am Peter, the guy you chatted with at the start (I think!!). Hope you enjoyed the race. I rode the new drop fine in practice and then absolutely obliterated on lap one (cracked helmet, ripped jersey, lucky I could carry on and hadn't fractured my collarbone haha). I hadn't done enough skills practice generally. Humble pie for me :)

I had a nightmare of a race! My saddle fell off on lap two and I had to ride with it in my jersey pocket, and walk quite a lot, until I found a spectator with some Allen keys that fitted, to reattach it. Then on lap 3 I got bucked off by a little root jump because I was tired. I landed on some logs and a stump outside the race tape and I initially thought I'd broken a collar bone but it turned out to be just winded and bruised. I was pretty shaken up though and decided to drop out. My first ever DNF 😥 Totally agree it was a very tough course 😂 I guess it's good to see the national series really setting the standard. I'm keen to get back on the starting line ASAP though!
