I have recently bought a cannondale system six dura ace disc road and I also own a cannondale super six evo sram red. The difference in speed between the two is like night and day. I would only use the super six evo now for hill climbs only . The system six is the fastest road bike I have ever ridden, it is super fast. Got Favero Assioma power meter pedals to compliment it, which is better than the higher version because I can swap mine to other bikes I own, they have been accurate and faultless.

They've been putting it on SuperSix for years now, and it works well. I like that it's effectively one piece of metal, instead of the usual three. That eliminates bolts that are attaching chainrings to the crank, resulting in lower weight and higher stiffness - which also helps with shifting. The only disadvantage is that since it's all one piece, you have to replace the whole thing when one of your chainrings wears out.

I mean really not want to hate on Cannondale or you guys but if you buy a bike in the 7000€ range then you are not new to cycling and contemplating if you need a powermeter or not....either you want it or you don't

Lasse Karrasch i was going to make that exact point. Let’s be real, the reason they do it is so their bike is less expensive than the competition which has power meters. That whole line about being for people new to cycling is garbage. I’ve been cycling for a few years and am no where close to buying a bike in that price range.

Having worked in the retail space for a decade I will have to absolutely disagree! People who can afford the high end products always want the BEST. Especially newcomers!!! I would say the differences between a $7,000 bike and a $2,500 bike are negligible to 98% of us. But you tell a newbie with a bank account that the SystemSix is the fastest bike on the market then he is buying a SystemSix and hasn't got a clue what a powermeter is. Newbies with money are absolutely going to spend money on whatever bike shop kid says will make him/her better. With that said, just include the activation of the power meter! I hate the idea of spending MSRP and not getting everything on the bike.
@lassefk3171
@lassefk3171 5 жыл бұрын
@@sj6656 Totally agree on that point but then again a newcomers with cash would also then drop it on the powermeter build in or not. From a business concept point of view it is an interesting concept but then they could have also partnered with Team Zwatt who also take an interesting approach with their power subscription

Honestly it is fine for people to spend there money on the top of the line bikes. Sure if your someone getting to the sport I would recommend something like the CAAD 12. But most riders are mammals who go out too coffee shops with there mates and enjoy flexing there top of the line bike too all there friends. No shame in this and I personally encourage it. You want people to be proud of the bikes they are riding. Tho it’s a little over zealous to spend that much on a bike if your not racing. But it comes down to a choice and if these people want to ride nice bikes I think the cycling culture should welcome it. We all want to ride the best bikes. Tho it is hardly necessary to buy these high end bikes if your new to the sport. These bike really don’t preform much difference then there cheaper counterparts. Only really difference is for sprinters to have a more responsive frame. Other than that just buy a nice frame and go out and spend all your money on nice tires and race wheels. Nice wheels will do more for you then any frame.

@@veloriderkm No, liked the look of the cannondale super six dura ace and because I already owned an evo, I knew what I was buying and wasn't dissapointed. I was absolutely amazed at how fast it was when I got it, as fast as a round tube time trial bike I own, without being in such an aero position. I can put about 20 watts more out on the cannondale super six than my round tube tt bike because of the less aggressive position than the tt bike and the round tubes, which probably answers that one. It is still not as fast as my aero tubed TT bike ( hotta dunlop perimeter) though, but very close but then again the cannondale is not a true TT position bike.
@veloriderkm
@veloriderkm 5 жыл бұрын
Neal Archer I have no doubt it’s fast. Damon Rinard knows what he’s doing and while he’s at Cannondale, bikes will get faster. My issue with this bike is that it’s heavier than it needs to be. I really wanted to like it but I just don’t. I’m glad to hear you do and I hope you get miles of smiles from it. Cheers for the input and I hope you take no offence to my opinions.
@stevezodiac491
@stevezodiac491 5 жыл бұрын
@@veloriderkm No offence taken, my best tt bike is rather old now and much heavier than the system six but because of the position it puts you in, like I say, it is even faster, because aero beats weight on the flat, downhill and up hills up to about 10 mph. The weight difference between my very light evo and the system six is minimal when you consider the bike, the rider and all his equipment, as a package, you are talking small beer in terms if weight. The aero qualities are a different matter altogether because pushing air aside takes more than three quarters of your power to do, so any aero gains make a big difference. Weight only matters accelerating and climbing with the rotational component weight being a little bit more influential than the non rotational weight, once you are up to speed it has very little influence.

I have this exact same bike and that was my only gripe about it. The cable routing on the front could have been designed better. Then the cables could have been tucked away into the head tube cavity. After all that's where they routed the brake hoses... Seems like they could have made the head tube cavity a snatch hair bigger and it would easily have been able to accommodate them. Wasn't a deal breaker for me though, i still bought it, AND LOVE IT!

I have a system six and also have a super six evo, I train to race on an undulating sporting course and record every ride, the system six is way faster and about the same as my round tube old tt bike but not as fast as my best aero tube tt bike, because the position of my body on my best aero tt bike is more aero on tt bars combined with the aero tubes as well, even though I can put out greater power on the system six, with a more open hip angle. What I have also learned, is that the weight difference makes hardly any difference, apart from on the steepest of hills, if you can get a run up and the hill is shortish, the system six is faster, even on those.

when you put a smaller width tire on a wider with rim, it blows out the tire like you said, making the tires depth shallow, which makes the ride complete rubbish. You will find you need to run higher pressures and you will bottom out easily going over bumps and potholes. Unless you are running tubeless, you are going to pinch flat and your ass will hurt from the hard ride.

Pure product placement, sorry because I really like what you usually do, a bike that requires no pedaling downhill to be as quick as a non-aero one pedaling? Really? The rider is 80% of the aero drag on a bike guys. With tha same wheels ANY bike will require at worst 5% more effort on the rider to be just as fast. At worst. And considering the additional weight of the "aero package" (thru axles, discs, additional wheel spokes and heavy frame) this whole aero thing is a joke.

They ruined the paint job on this bike. Cannondale had a good reputation of painting really unique paint jobs. But now they are copying the ugh paint work of there cruisers. Why is your most expensive bike boring ass black!!! Your company is color is green! Take notes from Giant when they made the propel. They embraced there roots by painting the bike blue. Mean while cannondale design team came up with Trek Red, pea green, and black. Come on Cannondale you made one of the worst paint jobs I have ever seen! And for a company with almost zero customization options this is disgraceful. I have raced on Cannondale my entire life and never have I seen an uglier design by them. Maybe it’s because the roots of Cannondale isn’t really in there aero frames? I don’t know man but as someone who loves Cannondale you ruined what could of been a stunning bike. Next time I will design you a paint job and we can actually be proud of it.
