Thanks Rick! The scenery from the falls just before the caves onward to our get out at armathwaite was out of this world I’m gutted the go pro run out and didn’t capture it all, stunning! Definitely! I need to paddle it again with more water on, would be much better paddling! John

@@RickTOutdoorAdventure1969 Ormskirk mate, only a junction or two down road. Haven’t paddled anything over grade 2/3 (I think) so if they’re not gnarly then yeh sound 👍🏻

I know it was a while ago now but do you know what the river levels were when you paddled it - would be great to get an idea of what level and at what station would give a great open canoeing experience without raising the difficulty too frequently into the G3 territory.

Haha yes it was a while ago, unfortunately I can’t remember which stations or the exact levels apologies…however it was very low in places and we were bottoming out or scraping, lined a few that I would run easier with more water. Stunning river in places I plan to go back at some point when the levels are higher, lining wasn’t too difficult though in the places with too many rocks about

You are obviously very professional but we saw a group of 4 far less professional canoeists who got in to trouble over those falls and one of them died. It was horrible to see. The down pull below the falls was so strong the young guy didn't have a chance.

I wouldn’t go that far, still learning here. Can happen to the best of us too even the most experienced. that’s awful to hear! And would of been horrendous to witness, sorry you had to see that. I assume you are on about the big drop falls we lined? Just before the caves.
@sianbaxter13202 жыл бұрын
@@foresteroutdoorsYes, that's correct, the falls just upstream from the caves. Yes, horrendous to see the person struggling so desperately and to no avail.

@@sianbaxter1320 yeh that’s the ones that were huge and a big drop. I couldn’t see a safe line for my capabilities and not to damage the boat.
