I bought a canon 1DX for less than £400 a year ago with just under one million shutter count still going strong these cameras are work horses ,One thing you did not mention was that canon no longer repair this camera and spare parts are hard to come by but still a good review.

Ah good to know, I wasn't aware they no longer support repairs.

Yes, I came to say this, don't overpay for these, as parts are scarce, still an awesome camera, just buy with the knowledge that if it fails, repairs can be difficult or impossible, depending on what fails.....

My 1dx is the camera I bring when I absolutely need to get the shot. It’s a tank, utterly reliable, and really easily to process files. I beat the crap out of it and it still keeps going. You could use this and a 5dsr and there is no form of photography you can’t do.
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Agreed! Bulletproof! 5Dsr would be awesome! If I could ever find one for a good price I'd probably give it a go, honestly it's not a camera that was on my radar, almost forgot about Canon's High Res DSLR.
@ccoppola823 ай бұрын
@@Mr50mmish for the price now it’s worth trying. There’s nothing like it in canons lineup. It has a AA cancelling that maximizes sharpness and with 50mp sensor it’s crazy. Colors are excellent as well. I keep a 1dx, 5d classic, and 5dsr because they are all so fun and unique

@@Mr50mmish Compared to the OG 1Dx I don't know because I haven't shot anything with that but if I compare with my 6D mkii it's night and day. The AF is extremely fast, it's great in low light, really good AF tracking and haven't had any complaints yet. The 14(16) fps is insane too. Sounds like you're shooting with a gatling gun. Would absolutely recommend! Personally I'm not that "in to" the new RF system and have already invested in EF lenses so can't see me going to a mirrorless camera anytime soon if ever tbh, especially now when Canon has said that they won't produce more EF lenses which means that the secondhand market will become extremely cheap. IMO the 1Dx mkii is such a good camera that the "better" cameras will only be slightly better to the point that I wouldn't even notice it if i didn't pixel peep at 300% zoom in lightroom.
@ActualCounterfactual3 ай бұрын
As you mentioned, the "low" megapixel count is not an issue. With quality lenses + good photography skills, this camera excels in almost any situation. I've used various DSLRs over the years, and this was the first one that truly felt capable of handling "anything, for anyone, anywhere, at any time", as long as we're talking about stills, not video. I also love the sturdy build, you could probably physically defend yourself with it if needed! My only hesitation would be if I were still shooting professionally every day. Carrying this body along with a 70-200mm lens for 8 hours straight could be a bit much. But for occasional shoots, the weight and build are actually a plus, and the image quality at most ISO levels is still VERY impressive, even today. Plus, you can find this camera used in most countries for a fraction of what modern gear costs.
@Mr50mmish3 ай бұрын
Agreed! The incredibly sturdy build is quite nice! When it comes to weight I am getting use to carrying increasingly heavy slightly unnecessary cameras haha so I'm usually quite happy with the 1Dx for the day! And yeah the price of them now is awesome! It's honestly doubley great when you consider how much you can pick one up for!

Yes the 1Dc is 100% the same camera, the only difference is the firmware ! And no, you cannot put 1Dc firmware on a 1Dx, I think Canon serialized the circuit boards to accept the 'correct' firmware only.

@@cameradoctor205 almost the same. It has a larger heat sink for the sensor, so it is not exactly the same camera. However the stills is 100% the same and you can use the 1Dx Pro Standard profile in Capture One with the 1Dc which is what I do with mine. The camera has awesome/incredible still image quality and like someone mentioned a very special look the videos it shoots. The image quality is a good compliment to my Leica M9 which is also a 18mp camera from around the same era.
