Canon 20-35mm L f2.8 lens review a few months later

Why is your video so dark? It's like you did this in the middle of the night with all your lights off and the light from your computer was the only source.

Curious to know what your thoughts are on this lens at the moment. Have the drawbacks become a bit too much to handle? Has it become a niche piece of equipment in your bag?

Even with its shortcomings, I actually leave this lens on the camera body at all times. I did some walk around shooting at my local renaissance fair and was pleased with the footage. Shot at F/4 and it kept the hunting for focus very minimal. I’ll post it up soon!

your copy have a dust, fungus or haze, this lens is solid but only if clean glass in good condition

Does it continuously autofocus during video? is it smooth or not so much?

It does continuously auto focus but the focus drive on this old lens is very noisy and not the smoothest when using auto focus. I would recommend using manual focus for video on this lens

@@Damnitsrandum16 Thanks for your great review! Can you manually focus even if the lens is not connected to a camera? I know some older USM lenses cannot do this at all :(

I believe that would depend on the camera body. If you install this lens with the appropriate lens adapter I believe in body stabilization would work.

Bro Is this lens’s AFS works fine on fujifilm’s cam with the AF adapter?

I used this lens with my Fujifilm xt-3 and using a Viltrox EF to XF adapter and the autofocus worked but it was not 100% reliable when shooting at f2.8. There are a few spots at the end where you can see the camera "hunting" for focus. Maybe there is new firmware that may help the adapter but not that I know of. cheers!

i have never been able to compare them due to not having a copy of a 17-40 F/4 but that would actually be a good comparison because i believe the successor of the 20-35 was the 17-40.
