Good afternoon. I’m planning to buy canon r10 . So could you please suggest me good small lens for low light shoot. Waiting for your reply

I’m big on primes as a great starting lens to learn on. What that said there only only a few native RF-S lenses out. 18-45 and 18-150. For low light I would suggest the RF 16mm 2.8 on crop would be 24-25mm-ish at 2.8. 50 1.8 is a great lens as well to start but with a crop it would be almost telephoto on the R10.

honestly, when I shoot I bring a 50mm and a 24-105mm with me. Its just that the dynamic range of a 24-105mm can't compare to a 50mm even though it is a nifty fifty, but sometimes I just want to do more with my 24-105mm.. maybe I just need to utilize it better. been wanting to get my hands on an 85mm but having both is sufficient enough anyways I like your video keep it up! big fan

Having both is best of both worlds. If you are doing journalism or portrait work the 85mm is really sweet but like you I try to limit all the stuff I have. It feels great to go back to the basics one lens pick and go shoot.

How is the dust sealing on this particular RF lens? I've heard photographers having a nightmare with Tamron and Sigma's current 24-70 due to dust getting sucked in to the lens due to poor sealing on the extending lens barrel. To your knowledge, does the RF F4 24-105mm L have a filter between the extending barrel and the main barrel to prevent dust from getting sucked into the lens? Or in your extensive use of the lens, have you detected any issues with dust [long term use]?
@RickyCheung
@RickyCheung 3 жыл бұрын
It had weather seals but dust will eventually make its way into the lens eventually, it’s inevitable and will happen. Does it effect the lens, not really. I’ve had an EF 24-70 I and II and the barrel zoomed in and out dust made its way but lens never performed less.

Thanks for the great video. Currently I have Canon 6D with Canon 24-105 f4 and Canon 50mm f1.8. I am happy with what I had right now. I plan and research to add Canon 70-200mm f2.8 or f4.0. I lean more to the 70-200mm 2.8 incase I need more light but I is heavy than 70-200 f4. What is your advice. Thanks a lot.

You have a great kit. I started my wedding photography studio with an EF 70-200 f4 because I couldn’t fork up the $$ for 2.8. Eventually I did because I realized the limitations in my line of work. F4 is more than enough for most as ISO are good go today. For travel I’d go f4 for work I’d go 2.8.

Thank you for this video. Just subscribed. I use a 24-105 as of now. I use this for landscapes, garden flowers, and portraits… few doubts if that is okay. 1. Should I also buy a 50mm 1.2? 2. Will it help a good idea to buy it? 3. Is the image quality difference significant? 4. I use Rf 100-500 for wildlife photography. Can 50mm be used for any close range wildlife photography?

Congrats! Welcome to the world of photography. For weddings I wouldn’t touch 24-105 f4-7.1 because you’ll be stuck in low light situations unless your style is flash all the time. I would recommended a 50 1.8 but you need to compliment that with a wider lens and maybe a little bit of reach with 85mm. Let’s just say my go to setup is 35/50/85mm. As for starting out you’ll be ok with 1.8 versions as I once did. Good luck.👍

Hi there! I really like your video! I would also like to ask you a question about choosing between the 50mm f1.8 stm and 24-105mm lens. I used to use 24-105mm to shoot cars photography with my eos4d and it is amazing, but now I'm suffering on shooting the model car/toy car photography with my 24-105mm. It is hard to focus on the whole body on my model car. Should I get a 50mm lens? As I believe the 24-105mm is too wide to shoot some small object, thanks!
@RickyCheung
@RickyCheung 3 жыл бұрын
Zoom in and go tighter with 24-105. With that said you will get less in focus as you zoom in, up your f-stop. If you want the full car in focus you’ll want a higher f-stop as f4 even at 50mm might not have the complete car in focus. A 50mm prime lens is not going to help you or change your issue.

@@RickyCheung Ok great. I think you are right! This may be a stupid question, but I am new to photography! So when I zoom in to 105mm automatically changes to f7.1. Is there a way to change that or is that the lowest it will go being zoomed in that much? Thanks!
@RickyCheung
@RickyCheung 4 жыл бұрын
Sounds like you have a different lens perhaps the 24-104 stm which on the long end maxes out at f7.1. So there are two vs. a canon 24-105 f4 (constant throughout the range) and a canon rf 24-105 f4-7.1. There is no way around this but to change lenses but I think if you are new to photography, be great with what you have. Thanks for watching the vid.

I have the RF24-105 f4 myself and I think it's a fantastic allround lens both for video and photo. That said as a commercial photographer I always had primes and it makes full sense to have some large aperture opening lenses. One needs both at least when have it as a job. I don't have the Canon 50mm 1.2 L but Sigma 1.4 with is good in many ways except on busier backgrounds like foliage and fur trees it doesn't look that smooth as one would expect. How is your canon 50mm 1.2 L in these kind of scenarios? I'm curious to know...
@RickyCheung
@RickyCheung 3 жыл бұрын
If you are on RF mount the newer 50mm 1.2 is a lot better with a much smoother bokeh compare to the EF ver. I only have a EF 50mm 1.2 L, it’s smooth but not that’s smooth. In a way I reach for the 85mm 1.2 because it gives that much more... if you can afford it the RF primes are a setup but I like the smaller size of EF even with adapter.

Thanks for your feedback, greatly appreciate it. It really depends on what you shoot most, if you feel you are shoot alot of street, events and, low light stuff I would go with the 50 1.2. If you need versatile yo can't beat 24-105. If you are new into photography my thoughts would be a 50 prime could make you a better photographer, composition, etc. 24-105 for I want to shoot everything. Thank you. Very helpful. I'm assembling lenses for a new R6. I have ultra wide covered well enough for my needs with an RF 15-35 f2.8. I have sports and wildlife (telephoto) covered for my needs with an RF 100-500. I'm sorting out what to do for the middle range, and considering a number of options - can I do it with one more lens? Or do I need/want two? How does the background blur compare between a RF 24-70 2.8 shooting at 70, versus an RF 24-105 f4 shooting at 105? Can I generate roughly the same background blur with the 24-105 f/4 if I shoot portraits at 105mm? If yes, that it one more argument in favor of this 24-105 f/4 as my next lens. I generally prefer faster lenses and that is really the only thing holding me back on this lens.
@RickyCheung
@RickyCheung 3 жыл бұрын
Cool. Soo background blur is also determined by the distance from background and subject right soo with sports being in stadium setting f4 could be all you need however if you are shooting sports indoors, at night (usually let by studying lights) that 2.8 could be critical to your work in the mid range. I know a few sports photog that are not only capturing the game but also need to capture the BTS of teams, etc. 2.8 is helpful compared to f4.
