The 50mm is amazing, but there are just some places it is too telephoto. It's really sharp, inexpensive, and dependable, however the 24mm can fix areas the 50mm can't handle!

@@ChadEveryday I think a dedicated video for stills will be very helpful to a lot of people. A lot of folks might be considering buying this lens for photography. Great video. I have this lens for filming in my small office, but I can't get it to look zoomed out like yours. It is too close for some reason. What am I doing wrong?
@taloan96993 жыл бұрын
if you are using it in 4k, a lot of cameras (possibly even all) will zoom it way in because of how many more pixels there are compared to 1080p, it's kinda annoying but honestly, resolution is not important in the slightest for professional cameras (as long as we're talking from 1080p to 4K) because it's all about the color accuracy, the depth of field, and the aperture that makes a portrait shot look good.. so basically, if you are using it in 4K, that would probably be your problem

For the the 50mm is a fantastic lens for portraits and things, but I agree, it can be extremely too telephoto many times. Which is why I love this 24mm. The 35mm isn't a bad option either for a slightly bigger budget.

I don’t recall the settings exactly but if I had to wager a best guess it would have been: 1080p resolution 24 FPS f2.8 1/50 shutter speed And ISO was anywhere between 800-1600 I might have even ran the ISO a little higher and then ran a plug-in called neat video denoiser on top

But you did not mention that this is not a true 24. It is only for crop frame which means it is actually a 36mm lens.
@ChadEveryday2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mark! That is both correct and not at the same time. The lens itself has a true 24mm focal range, however you are correct in that the camera's sensor applies a 1.6x crop factor which results in the lens in comparison to full frame being a 36mm. I used to mention that in my review videos, but for some reason omitted it from this one.

Hi there! I am trying to find an affordable lens that's quiet to make ASMR/Mukbang videos. I have the Canon 80D. Would you suggest this one? I don't want my whole face to be shown though.
@ChadEveryday3 жыл бұрын
Yeah this one would be good for that. It has a crisp and clear image, is great for low light, and will have a tight enough crop to not have your whole face in frame. Another option would be to get a 50mm prime lens. It actually might be a better option than this one.

Hi! I have a question. How far is the DSLR set up? I know with 50mm, the camera has to be set like 7 ft away. That's pretty far from me. With 24mm lens, how close can I be to the camera? And in this particular video, I guess the camera is pretty close to you? Thanks!

@ChadEveryday5 жыл бұрын
The 24mm being an EF-S lens may not work well if at all with the 5D mark 3. The 40mm pancake is just a EF lens around the same price point and should work okay. Being as how you have a full frame camera, that would give you the same focal length as the 24mm gives me on my crop sensor.
@vedder73734 жыл бұрын
It would probably give you a vinet
@nbsnowden3 жыл бұрын
I thought since this is an EF-"S" lens it doesn't take the crop factor into effect? Doesn't it being 24mm EF-S mean that it is truly a 24mm lens on say a 90D?
@ChadEveryday3 жыл бұрын
Technically yes it’s still a 24mm lens but the end result field of view you get out of it has to take the crop factor into account. The crop comes from the camera sensor, not from the lens. If that makes sense
@nbsnowden3 жыл бұрын
@@ChadEveryday I am new to this so I am still learning and was seeing some videos stating that the red dot (or EF lens) is more for full frame cameras and those are the ones we have to do the 1.6 conversion on... but the EF-S (white square ones) are built for the cropped sensor so no conversion needs to be done since these can't even go on full frame.
@ChadEveryday3 жыл бұрын
The main difference between Ef-s and EF lenses is the build of the back. The EF lens has to take into account the size of the full frame sensor. You can buy adapters and use full frame lenses on EF-S mount cameras. It’s not exactly the same but think of 4K vs. 1080. 4K is like your full frame, you’re getting the entirety of it, whereas 1080 is a smaller or “cropped” version of it

@@Chesterflaps I believe it is under the 5th menu set called camera options (which may be where you tried to change it). You should have 3:2 (default), 4:3, 16:9 and 1:1. 16:9 will give you the bars, I believe 3:2 is what you want to make sure it is set to.

I am sure he will answer you, but from everything I've seen it looks like it would be a really good choice. It seems to have a wide-angle, and when you have a crop sensor that adds to the focal length, you don't have to have the camera setup too far away from yourself , so you can fit into a relatively small room I would think. Sorry, I am no expert of course, but I have the same camera and your query is something I am trying to research also
