Great video and really useful as I wanted to find out about how much noise this lens creates for when I record movie footage.

Most of my short films were shot with this lens. It is awesome even though it is cheap. Nice review.

It would be helpful to export the audio to a wav file and import it into audacity to look at the different waveforms. Personally, I could not hear any sound from either of the tests while listening on my Chromebook. I think that for the common KZbin viewer watching on a laptop or even a desktop with typical speakers autofocus noise will not be an issue with the Canon STM lenses.

So how far back did you have to move the camera to get a decently framed shot.
@seanv47354 жыл бұрын
Strange that an STM lens would be that noisy.
@georgevsproduct31234 жыл бұрын
yeah i was surprised too, but if you watch my other video on the 24 f2.8 stm, it's only a little better...

Hi.....in your video when you took your hand near it took time to focus, but focussed quickly at the background. Why? And what is the minimum distance you should stand from the lens?
@georgevsproduct31234 жыл бұрын
im not sure, sometimes the lens is fast, sometimes its pretty slow

Hello George, how are you? Great video and great test, I went to youtube to see if my lenses were defective, 50mm and at 24mm the test you did left me calm and I saw that it is normal. Great test and great video :) Keep recording more videos. Wouldn't STM have to be a silent focus? Do you know why the 18-55mm 4-5.6 does not make any noise in the focus? I also did not find any noise in the 10-18mm and 55-250mm Thank you \o/

Hi George! Great video! By the way, can you explain how you edited your audio, because I have the same camera and the same microphone and made the same setup and, honestly, I couldn't get the same audio quality! I will be immensely grateful if you answer my question. Thanks

Hi! What if the lens is using adapter for EOS M? Does that affect the noise production?
@Cpt_zheng4 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. The noise is caused by the lens itself, so an adapter won't change much.
@georgevsproduct31234 жыл бұрын
I don't have a canon mirrorless so I can't say for sure, butI believe @Cpt_Zheng is right.

Is there a way we can have it have no noise, but make it focus and bokeh at the same time?
@georgevsproduct31234 жыл бұрын
I'd recommend using a lav mic or how I sort of boom it closer.

@georgevsproduct31234 жыл бұрын
if you boom it future away, it gets A LOT quieter. the idea is to get your audio pick up as far away from your lens as possible. a lav mic would also work very well.
