Nicely done. Nice way to keep a bunch of settings and load them with names. Canon cameras make excellent jpegs, especially when you customize them. I have long thought they were greatly under appreciated. I tend to jack up the colors for landscapes and urban scapes. Good work. I will be interested to see how they work. It might be nice to show the settings for each simulated film when you do the video on them. Best wishes! God bless!

Thank you for your comments as always 👍 I agree the default Picture Style format in Canon cameras has always been pretty useful for me, I have created some unique-looking JPGs over the years. These 'custom' Picture Styles need backdated software and hardware to install, the extra effort is very much worth it as some of the results are very unexpected 😎 I will upload the results from the 3 custom styles from this video soon. The files it seems are created using the Canon Picture Style Editor, all but the very basic settings are baked in, but I can put the Sharpness, Contrast, Saturation and Colour tone in the description if it helps, thanks again, Take care!

Ah man i cant thank u enough i saw some videos on this but it wasnt possible to bcs of the ancient software i didnt know u needed 32bit os i didnt want to go through the hassle of installing windows xp on a vm as it wouldve taken a huge amount of time windows 10 32bit on vm worked had some hiccups but all is good 👍

Hi Paul is there anyway we can preview each picture style so we can decide what we want. There is so much and only way for me to see is to try each. Would be nice to see a video of each before hand. There is so much to chose

Thanks a lot for making this video! As the other person mentioned in the comments, i too had problems with win10 in virtual machine communicating with the 5D. I'll try to get a hold of a windows pc or laptop, since i want to change the owner information and get some more picture styles on my 5D. I was wondering, what color display profile do you use on your pc/lapotop when you are viewing a jpeg from a 5D? and what image viewer software will display the 5D colors most accurately? I would love to get see the most original and accurately 5D colors on an image. Thanks.

Thank you for your feedback. 👍 Virtualisation does indeed present some peculiarities. If I find the opportunity, I plan to explore creating a virtual environment myself to see if I can overcome any challenges. In the event of success, I might even consider making a video about it. Regarding colour displays, I typically stick with the default profiles. While I use multiple devices, I do notice a slight colour variation between them. However, the variances are not significant enough for me to be overly concerned. In my workflow, I rely on Lightroom and Capture One. If you have a strong interest in colour accuracy, I highly recommend calibrating each of your devices to specific profiles. In the past, I have used X-Rite colour calibration tools, but they can be quite expensive. Nevertheless, they are definitely worth investing in if you work with colour professionally or have the budget to acquire them outright. 😎

Excellent video! I've been trying to do this exact thing with the very same "158 VW collection" presets but using my MAC (rather than a PC) and my 5D. Unfortunately, I've learnt that the 5D and MAC just don't talk to each other - EOS utility (version 1, 2 or 3) will not recognize the camera. EOS Utility does acknowledge a connection to a device when the 5D is set to 'printer/PTP' instead of 'PC-Connect' but they still don't chat. Instead, I have been applying the presets to the photos themselves once they are downloaded from the camera, but it would be nice to have those presets in-camera during shooting. Guess I'll have to pick up an old 2012 era laptop for cheap. 6D, and 5D mk IV do chat very happily with MAC and the presets load up fine on them directly.

Hi JR, thanks for the feedback 😎 I'm predominantly a Mac user too. I have found there is a way to get Windows 10 32-Bit on a Mac through a Virtual environment (Virtualbox, UTM, Parallels) you could try looking into that before spending any cash on a Laptop. Let me know how it goes, Thanks a lot 👍

@@paulappleby2729 Hi Paul - thanks for the further advice. VirtualBox was really easy to install and set up on my Mac. It took me a few tries to get Windows 10 32bit installed though. It was a bugger as I kept getting 'oobe' related errors: oobesettings or oobekeyboard would not install. After reading some advice on several websites about these errors, I went down the rabbit hole a bit and tried some suggested fixes by typing code into the command console, then the install would reboot but then just freeze up. Eventually, I just kept pressing "retry" and third time through the retry sequence, Windows 10 finally committed to a complete install in Virtual Box. Canon Utilities loaded up fine from your Canon utilities zip file I downloaded. But alas, after all that, I could still not get Utilities inside Windows 10 32bit inside Virtual Box to recognize my Canon 5d :( It's too bad, but not the end of the world. I'll just keep editing my photos with the presets after they are out of the camera. To anyone else reading - I would give this a try. It seems like it should work and it is a little finicky, but you might just luck out. The install must be 32 bit as Paul recommends. 64bit is not recognized by the Canon USB driver.

@@paulappleby2729 HI Paul - yeah, USB cable definitely OK, and the vu600en.exe driver did install correctly. I think there's just a lot of translating going on between the Mac architecture, a virtual Windows 10 32bit environment, and then the ol'Canon 5d itself - lots of room for a single, tiny code issue to trip up the whole process. I may try again over the weekend with a fresh install of everything. Keep up with the great 5D vids!

Hi Cody, it would be a lot easier if we could apply these in camera 😎 The styles are created using the Canon Picture Style Editor, adjusting the Colour Display Mode (LAB, HSL, RGB) Tone curve...etc which are not present in the Canon 5D Classic menus unfortunately.
