worked great for me! there was one weird bit where you have to put the bottom on before the front. but all in all great tutorial and i'm so happy my camera doesn't suck to use any more!

My old Mark IV isn’t worth sending in to Canon. This was actually pretty easy. I’m sure a few screws got swapped around and in the wrong place. But it works just fine. Thanks for the video. Would not attempt it without it!

After months of hesitation I took the plunge. Great tutorial, Thanks! To answer (my and) others questions, I used a #00 Phillips -- start with a NEW, good quality screwdriver! Some of the screws, notably on the bottom appear to have loctite or other thread-locker compound on them, and require care not to strip the heads. The rubber grips are indeed reusable, just clean the camera surfaces with alcohol before re-applying. There are 40 screws of different threads and lengths, so good organization is key!

Thank you!!! I followed your video and everything works great again. I was able to bypass removing the white wire and work the disassembly with it connected. My only problem is the black screws... I stripped 2 and had to resort to some primitive methods to get them removed. My recommendation is have a good tool set. Mine was a cheap $25 kit off Amazon.. All said, it works perfect!

I am really nit picking here, but if I could always see the screws that you are taking out (always putting them in a visible place) it could make the job even easier. The length of them varies so it is very important which screw goes where. It also scared me a lot first that I did not see anything on the screen when assembled the camera. Later I figured it was because the connector of the screen needs a firm press so you can hear the clicking in noise. Super nice video though, it really helped me a lot, that replacement part is only about $39 from China... you saved me an expensive repair service, thank you!

Awesome video...wish I had the guts to try this out. So sad that the shutter wheel is so hard to replace. I got a quote from Canon to do it and it was $420. The part itself is like $20.

Can you reuse the rubber grip or do you need to replace them? Where can you purchase new ones if you cannot reuse them?

You can reuse the old ones, if you need to replace check ebay.... search for Canon 5D Mark IV parts.

John….how do the rubber surfaces get re-attached to the body? Do they stick on their own, do you need to apply adhesive ( if so, what type), or do you need to purchase replacement surfaces. Very impressive piece of work. I am going to give it a shot but warily. Thanks
@thecameradoctor3 жыл бұрын
Hi Ed, The rubber grips can be reattached without any additional glue, just be careful when removing them, do not touch the adhesive side of the rubbers, oil from your fingers can cause them to lose their ability to stick, use acetone or nail polish remover to clean the areas on the body where the rubbers adhere.

I have the problem that when I turn that top wheel to change my shutter speed it's erratic. So, I went into the function where you can assign the wheel on the back to change the shutter speed and it's still erratic. Could something else be wrong with my camera? 5d mark iv as well. Thanks for any input.

Brilliant stuff Mate. Well laid out steps. In my case I need to replace the bottom pcb and am wondering how much of your steps I should follow. Do you think it's easier once I separate the back cover from the main board? I wish I had the courage like yours. Just wondering if I could give it a go. The quotation I got from the service center is ridiculous £430.00 I got the new part and just need the courage. Well done and thank you for your video. It really did cover much of the steps and will certainly follow it. Really Appreciate🙏🙏🙏

this might happen because the buses aren't tight enough. check them all again carefully. also, pay attention that there are two buses one on top of another that you should put back. when I assembled it for the first time, the second bus bends and kinda disappear so I decided that there is only one. rewatched the video and found out that there should be another. and to put it in place you have to watch them both while you put the top back.
