I had the same set but got rid of it when the camera stopped working. Neat little camera kit! I love your content and have been a fan for a while. Sorry it took me this long to comment, I've always been a shy commenter. This channel is a great resource keep up the great work!

The trick described to reactivate a failed meter cell works because the electrical connection between the cell and the wiring to the rest of the meter is not a hard connection, I.e, not soldered as are most such. The ends of the two electrical connections are just pressed physically again the back of the selenium cell, because the nature of selenium is that you cannot solder to it. Over time, those pressure contacts can become corroded and break the electrical contact. Pressing in the face of the cell here just flexes the cell again the contacts, which move a bit and scratch though such corrosion, reactivating the contacts. Most selenium cells in old meters are more rigidly mounted and do not response to this work-around. However, such meters can be disassembled to try the same repair.

Hey! great video as always :). These are one of my favourite designs of all time, the original Demi, Demi S, and Demi C. I'm not that big a fan of the design changes they introduced with the ee series, but these look so beautiful. Regarding that possible video on the disassembly of these: I know it would be very involved, but if at some point you could make one of the Demi S where you get to take the lens out that would be much appreciated! I didn't take pictures when I took mine out (stupid mistake, I know) and it's got such a mess of interlocking rings at the back I was never able to figure out how to properly put it back together again. The Demi S shutter has a different design from any other Demi and there's nothing on the internet I could use... Just a proper look at how the rings fit should be enough. I was planning on getting another one in order to take a look while cleaning and adjusting it, then reassemble mine, but if I could get the picture without doing that it would be very welcome.

Great video! Are you aware of the Nikon fm2 half frame bodies used by the Norwegian police for mugshots? That would make an interesting video!

Does the OTHER canon half frame have better control? Sounds like a lot of guess work to compose a shot.

Did anyone ever make a square format 35mm camera? I would think it would be a good compromise for size, resolution and number of shots on a 35mm format. I've heard of some hacks to Pen cameras but haven't seen a reliable conversion.

Not in Japan AFAIK, but the Otto Berning Co. made a series of Robot Recorder and Robot Royal cameras shooting 24x24mm frames on 35mm film.

Early Altix cameras (models I - III) and Zeiss Ikon Tenax I and II were 24x24 too. These originate from the 1930's, and were sold until the 1950's.
