Removing the battery and lens, turning camera on, setting to “P”, hold the shutter button for 15 seconds, turn camera off, replace battery, turn on and it works, problem solved! Thank you so much!

I let my 70D sit on the shelf for 2 years because of this "won't turn on" issue. I had tried manually triggering the micro switch in the battery compartment to no avail. What finally worked was removing the SD card, battery and lens. It didn't work with the Canon 18-55 original lens at first. The procedure worked when I changed lenses. Then when I put the 18-55 back on it worked with that. Problem solved. Thanks for the solution!

omyfg, the pmode work really, i had canon eos 500d, and it is not been used for over 10yrs for real, and I thought the battery was the problem so i bought one just now, but it didn't work. Then tried different ways as per this video and the pmode really worked. 😭
