I got my 1DXii about a year ago and I couldn't be happier. I came from a 5Diii and will never look back. Sure it's bulky and heavy but who cares, it just works. Yeah it might not have the tricks and bells and whistles that newer 2018/19 cameras have like the XT3 or Sony this or whatever that but I love it for it's simplicity, fast AF, Duel Pixel Af and the images I get out of the camera both stills and in video to me make it worth it. With a flick of a switch I can be in 4k 60, then I can map a button to shoot 1080p at 120fps then switch back to photos literally in seconds. Sold the 50mm 1.2 as it was super sexy of a lens, just wasn't to excited about the focal length. I got the 35mm 1.4ii instead and I'm way happier. The 70-200 2.8ii IS also goes with me everywhere and it just such a sweet lens paired with the camera even for hand held video I can stabilize at 70-100mm it's that good. This camera will keep me content for at least another 4-5 maybe even 6 years as It has the features I use and need, regardless of the new systems that come out.

I shoot (photo and video) with a 1DXii and I love it. Reliably, great ergonomics, predictable. I recently added a Panasonic G9 to my kit because I needed a smaller, lighter camera for some of my travel work. It's a fantastic camera and I love the IBIS and other tech in it. But. Using it really reinforced to me how mature the 1DXii is. It just works. The G9 is a fabulous camera and the light weight is a joy, but it's harder to use, not as robust, not as well constructed. All things I can live with, but it does reinforce just how good the 1DXii is at doing what it does. Love both these cameras. How lucky are we to live in a time where we have such great equipment to argue over?
@TECH360TV5 жыл бұрын
Agree with you especially on your last sentence. We do live in some amazing times. This is what struck me with the 1DX as well as how good the 1DX is even after 3 years on the market. It’s one of the few cameras I’ve used where I didn’t really need to worry about not getting the shot, or Low light issues, or even video limitations. It just works well all around.

@@TECH360TV Solid and reliable. I have photographed product, sports, landscape, portraits and wildlife in wild weather, wet and dusty as hell. Would like to see a Sony user brave the elements. LOL, Thanks for producing the video, its good to see photographers out there appreciating a well built and high quality camera. Too many people sucked in to upgrade syndrome when a new camera comes out each year. I think people should really keep their old kit and learn how to use it. My second shooter is a 5dmk2. I played a trick a few months ago on a forum where I posted 5 photos claiming each were shot with a Canon, Sony, Nikon, Panasonic and Fujifilm. I conducted a poll for users to nominate which camera made which photo. So many answers................at the end of the experiment, I gave in......they were all captured with Canon 5dmk2. Hi. For these pics I played with the tones slightly to create a certain look that compliments the natural colours but also gives the urban vibe to the pics. Basically I play with highlights, shadows, temp and dehaze tools mainly. If certain colours are distracting from the subject I’ll mute them slightly but otherwise that’s about it. For the BW I usually do my edits in color, switch to BW and then fine tune

Sorry Rich but I disagree. The AF on the 1DX is much better than the A7III especially when shooting in high frame rates. In live view mode, the continuous autofocus (servo) doesnt work and ul miss lots of shots if the subject is moving a lot, esp with forward/backward direction. In video mode, autofocus in 120fps is considerably slower and hunts a bit. The 4k mjpeg codec needs lots of resources in post editing. Oftentimes the heavy weight is a burden with run and gun video on a gimbal. Screen not flippin’ for low slung angle and no built in wifi means a need for external monitor. I sold mine after a year and got a7iii instead. But im keeping the 5dm4 for photos as mirrorless cant replace the look of an slr, yet.

The Canon 1DX Mark II is for me still the best camera out there for Wildlife - Action - Sport. I can compare it, I also can use the Sony A9 and Nikon D850. But nothing can compete with the 1DX Mark II. And this is not just because if the speed and reliability. It is simply because of the excellent Canon ecosystem. I use the Canon 1DX mark II together with the stunning Canon 600mm 4.0 III and this is a combo no other company can offer. Excellent in image quality, reliability and customer support. Exactly what I need on my tours through Siberia, South America and Africa. Forget any Sony system here, this is just a toy camera system compared to the Canon 1DX Mark II.

btw, you can go up to 16 fps, it has the ability of 4K 60p, 120p in HD, all the DPAF goodness, slight crop in 4K tho still all in FF, body is indestructible, battery is immortal, AF is extremely precise. All you need is a skill, money and a loads of processing power. I've been many times in Japan, and when it comes to professional photography no matter what the event, you see only 1DX2's and occasional D5's. Not to mention it's 4 years old, but still beats basically every pro camera on the market. Release of a new beast for Olympics is irrelevant. No pro will trust a brand new hardly tested camera, while they still have reliable sure thing to get the job done - 1DX2.

@leicanoct kinda, but when your career is on the line.. I'd leave a new camera for something less important or as a backup. I think the pro R will be near the 5DSR vs the 1DX. Canon can’t risk creating a mirrorless 1DX for the olympics and not performing for the photographers. The 1DX will prob be the last of the DSLR and then the next version will be mirrorless. The RF lenses are far better than the EF lenses. The only challenging part will be the large telephoto lenses. Those might still be EF for a while I’m guessing. Imagine the size of a 4 or 500mm lens in RF mount. It will be massive.

The question "Is XYZ camera still relevant in 20XX?" makes sense only when the camera being discussed has had at least 2-3 upgraded versions released... Canon 5D mkI or mkII, Nikon D7100 etc. come to mind. This still relevant video concept is starting to get overused. What's next, Sony A9 or Panasonic S1 being relevant in end-2019?
@TECH360TV5 жыл бұрын
I understand your viewpoint but there are consumers who fear spending 4K plus on a 3 year old camera. For some like yourself this video won’t make sense, but for others out there it will. We try to make videos for a variety of users and consumers out there. Hope this gives you better understanding why we do these kind of videos

Photography is like many things: It's the person doing the work. The camera is just ... Well, it's just the tool or rather the extension. ^^ Still, I'd rather go for mirrorless and something ... Aside from Canon tbh. Spec wise - yes, this is contrary to what I said before - they disappointed me (for the price they charge). And for me, the speed does not matter at all. I do take my time on the shots I make. I plan them out and I only do planned shots (landscape, star trails, etc) when I do unplanned shots, I usually do not need fast cameras as well ... So yeah. Still, 1DX is a great camera ^^
@TECH360TV5 жыл бұрын
Understand and agree it’s just a tool, but the right tool can help achieve the shots one wants. There are a lot of benefits to mirrorless, and before reviewing the 1DX I even asked myself that question among others, but I have to say I warmed to the fact it’s nice to use a camera that can do many different things and that as a photographer opens up your creative juices to try different types of photography. I also feel the price might be bit high 3 years in, but also respect the durability and robustness of the system.

I said that to the 5dmrk 3 when it was new, it had everything I needed. Had the 5dmrk1 and it wasnt bad att all. It took a lot of working hours and night shifts at work I had back then to save up for the mrk3, took me like two years before I got it. It is possible for you to get it, if your willing to commit. :) Ive had my 5dmrk3 for about 6 years now and its great, never let med down. And Ive been so confident that Ive havent gotten a second unit to shoot with for client work. Now Im saving up for the 1dxmrk2, think it will take me like 3 years to save up lol!

We used an M50 for our B rolls on this video. Lovely camera. The 1DX is for a particular photographer, not everyone’s tea, but what it does it does very well

@@TECH360TV true that. I don't shoot video, so I have no reason to complain about the cropped 4k-video ;) Jokes aside, I love that little camera. Great image quality, great AF... What more could I want. Aside from a better battery life...

I thought the question was not why would anyone buy this in 2019 but what choices a professional photographer has. This is not a selfy camera. Total cost with lense and all gears could go well and truly over $10K.

It's a great camera, but the 5D IV is a better choice for most Canon shooters.
@TECH360TV5 жыл бұрын
In some ways yes, but depends on the needs of the photographer. If you have the money the 1DX is the jack of all trades though.
@TexMex4215 жыл бұрын
@@TECH360TV A 5D IV has better low light performance and 50% more pixels. It's half the cost and weight and far more quite. If you have the money you can carry a spare camera. Studio, hiking, landscape, travel, portraits, weddings, the 5DIV is a better camera. Wildlife is a toss-up, and Sports (except golf) the 1DXII is better.

@@TECH360TV probably because other youtubers said so🤣. It takes pictures. Put a pic from this and any other camera and tell a neutral party to choose which it was shot with and they'd have to be guessing to get it right. May be one of those photographers that cant meter a scene without an EVF

@drummingspain2075 жыл бұрын
I've had a 1D mark iv for ages and was considering the jump to the 1DX or even the mkii. However, after MUCH research, I went for the Sony A9 with native 70-200 f2.8. The superior tracking, autofocus with 693 points, eye AF, (animal eye AF as firmware update in the summer), silent shooting, EVF, 1/32000 and flip screen for low / high angle shots were among the reasons for the switch. I will always have a soft spot for Canon as I've been with them for over 25 years but, times change. I wish Canon had produced something like the A9 but sadly, there's no sign of that at present.
@TECH360TV5 жыл бұрын
A9 is a fantastic camera and the tech in it is impressive. However I feel like I could take the 1DX into the most extreme situations if needed and not need to worry as opposed to the A9. This is where I hope Sony improves this camera in the future. I think we will see a mirrorless version of the A9 from Canon prob in the next couple years, or after the 2020 Olympics. I’ll be excited to see what they come up with.
