Mine cost me $1300 in 2007. Took thousands of photos on my trip to Spain and still looks and works like new. It is a gem !

Just purchased a 40D (Body only) from an online camera dealer in the UK. Paid £45 + £5.95 postage. Described as “Good Condition” with a 6 month warranty. Already own a 550D and a few lenses so lenses not an issue. Need to purchase a CF card or CF card adaptor which will set me back another £15 - £20. Can’t wait to try this out but at that price it’s worth the investment. I may decide to convert this to infra red at a later date!?

Just sold my mirrorless M5 and picked up a used 40D. Absolutely love the 40D. Yeah sure it’s not filled with all the whiz bang features of the M5 but I wanted a back to basics DSLR so it’ll suit my needs perfectly. I’ve got a 17-85 is USM, 70-300 Tamron VC and a Sigma 50mm 1.4 to go with it. Just need an ultra wide prime for night sky shots and a few more filter then my kit will be complete.

I had this camera a long time ago and I just bought one now for cheap. This was a beast like 5-6 years ago. I used it for pro photography, it still can be used for it. People did billboards with this thing no problem. Sturdy, reliable as hell and great feel. They can add more gimmicks and post processing but a good shot is a good shot.

Bought mine 2008 for like 1200 usd. Has been in a drawer since 2012. Have since then learned a bit more about lighting and settings. Powered it up this summer and took some shots with Good lighting. Result was awsome.

I just picked one up and wanted to share that you can use CF to SD card adapter and it works. I am using A micro SD in SD Card as well. I learned this trick when I pickup up Mark II 5D and it had this setup which I sold.

I just got this camera for free from a Buy Nothing Facebook group. Seller included a 50mm lens as well for me as well. I have never used a DSLR camera before so I am looking forward to learning how to shoot on manual and then maybe upgrading to something lighter and more modern/tech forward when I am more experienced. I like to shoot landscapes. What additional lens should I find for this type of shooting? Thank you!

B & H has a DigiGear Extreme SD-HC-XC to CF Adapter to use a SD card. I have a 32G in my 40D and shoot all day. Use the three custom setups and you can shoot quickly at a game, race, and fast moving subject. Remember, an average camera with a great lens is better than a great camera with an average lens. Put your money in the lens.

You are right! Even old DSLRs with up to date good quality lenses can deliver pro level image. If you put the latest EF lenses even an old 5D classic is capable of pro level portraits

Does it shoot video? j/k I love my 40D. It was the best xxD camera in the line until the 70d came out.
@respawnicon3 жыл бұрын
You can shoot video using the open shutter function and a software that was made for it. You'll have to be tethered to your computer via usb but it will take video.

Yes the 40D is still a very capable camera for its age, I still use mine occasionally, I also have a 5D classic full frame which can also be had for under £200.00. Both produce amazing photos and can still compete with my 5Diii in certain circumstances.

Picked up one before Christmas with 50/1.8 STM and love it! Had a few cameras before (1100D, 70D, 450D, Sony A7 and some m4/3s) but this is pretty cheap beast and decent IQ for my needs (animal portraits mostly), so sold other gear :D

Recently found one at a local Goodwill thrift store with Canon ultrasonic 28-135 mm lense/dust cap. Also had a Canon carrying strap. All under $10. Just hope it actually works. 😳 Have to get battery charger. May need to buy battery. Battery appears to be in good shape. Will have to wait and see. Wish me luck! 🤞

What is that joke at 2:49min? "It's a 17 year old camera..."? What? The EOS 40D came out, back into 2007! So it's (almost) 12 years old - not 17, Man! I do shoot with it, since the release. Still a great one - have my 10-18 STM mounted, onto the other one, my 55-250 STM.
