You should only replace your camera if it can't keep up with what you're doing. If it works alright for what your son is doing and doesn't hold him back from anything, you shouldn't waste money upgrading

Hello, I am willing to buy a canon DSLR, I have short listed two DSLRs accordingly my budget - A) CANON EOS 200D/REBEL SL2, and 2) CANON EOS 800D/ REBEL T7i. Kindly tell me which one is better. And I have few queries about CANON 800D, Please help me by answering those 🙂 -- 1) can it shoot "4k video" by this dslr? 2) can I "pause the recording" while shooting a video in the dslr? 3) can I shoot "slow motion" and "time lapse" videos by this dslr? If so, for how much duration ( in minutes) and in which setting ( fps & resolution), 4) Is "KELVIN COLOUR TEMPERATURE mode" ( "K") available in the White Balance Setting of the dslr? 5) Is "movable SPOT METERING" available in Metering Mode Setting of the dslr ?

It's a good idea to go to a store where you can hold them. I like a good grip and even though the 800D is still short of my Sony DSC-R1 from 2005, which has a HUGE grip to wrap my fingers around, it still is better than the 450D I once tried and really felt like I could not grab it properly. Could be the same difference applies to the SL2 and 800D, the SL2 looking to be the better choice when it comes to grip. But maybe there are other things you dislike about the SL2 and like about the 800D. Considering the video-capabilities you're not after, the SL2 seems a better choice, but as far as I could tell, both camera's hardly differ. I went for the 800D and am expecting it in a few days. It will be hard to start using the 800D after using my Sony DSC-R1 for 13 years.

It is the same I believe. The name 800D is the given to the international version of the rebel T7i is its American name.

This is the international version of the Rebel T7i. This means that the warranty is not good in the USA. JustU.faith/Canon800D?B I bought the extended warranty with it and it was still cheaper then the US version. Look on youtube for reviews. This was a highly rated camera. This was an upgrade from my old EOS Rebel T5. The extra features are great.

But what more should they add then? 4K? I think 4K is such an overrated feature. Most people that shoot video hardly know enough about video to make full HD-video worth to look at, so 4K isn't going to change anything about that. For me, this camera will be a an improvement that's beyond this earth as it will be replacing my Sony DSC-R1, my first own digital photocamera I used for 13 years.
