UPDATE: As of 03/31/2023, the Canon EOS R5 C has attained its Netflix Approval! Crazy to think I posted this video just a couple weeks before it's announcement and asked Canon and Netflix to make it work! Glad it''s here now after almost a year of the release of the R5 C!

Great update, now a bunch of kids who bought the camera by scamming their grandparents for cash, will start making Netflix movies :) :) :) It's ridiculous how pointless things are shared all over internet like a big deal, and that's only because camera gear is way more affordable than their buyers level of skill and experience.

I was tempted by FX3 but just love Canon's colour profiles, the R5C is an absolute beast! Especially when paired with external battery 😂

I don't know when exactly you uploaded the video, the R5C is now a Netflix approved Camera, I thought it was always Netflix approved though. Amazing comparison tbh. The form factor of the FX 3 is just soo nice, I can imagine ow good it would feel to have in the hands, but I really love both Cameras and wish I didn't haev to choose between the two, They are just so amazing.
@ThaHawaiiaN Жыл бұрын
I can see slightly better dynamic range on the fx3, can be seen at the lake comparison at 9:35, in the blown out water area if you put it full screen you will see a bit more water "ridges" in the lower center part close to the grass in the fx3 while exposure seems to be exacly the same, i went for the R5C, i prefered the lowlight performance, out of camara colors and photography options... in the future ill use it for my sports photography and for video will switch to RED or Arri (if you dont want to add weight to your rig or dont want to spend extra $ on battery solutions for the R5C i would go for the fx3)
@vladimirtalijan2 ай бұрын
That is not how you compare DR. Those examples were not the widest DR image both cameras can provide, not even close. Also, Red and Alexa are made for large teams and highend productions, unless that's your plan, there are a bunch of better cameras for solo shooters, the best one is Canon C70. The biggest and the most expensive truck is not good for a race track.

@AnishRajah8 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! I would say the Canon EOS R5 C seemed more natural and color accurate look whereas the Sony FX3 went more magenta, but could be resolved given more time in color correction. Canon typically does a better job with colors straight out of the camera, but Sony has definitely gotten better over the years.

With CLog2 supposedly coming to the R5 MK II in May, how does the R5c compare with the new R5 MK II? Is it still worth buying the R5C?
@AnishRajah7 ай бұрын
Been reading up on the R5 MK II as well and seems like a solid refresh from the original, but I’d say the R5 C is still a great pick up as it is geared more towards cinematographers with the Cinema OS and great specs for photos whereas the MK II is for photographers with video second in mind, but might be a better hybrid overall. Ultimately depends on what your primary needs are!

@AnishRajah Жыл бұрын
Appreciate it! Glad you're liking the FX30! Definitely a great choice! It's hard to do a straightforward vs between the two cameras since even though they're marketed towards similar users, they both feel different in their own ways. For a camera that's solely suited for capturing video and being reliable in it, the FX3 is the camera for it. Whereas the R5 C is like having both a photo and cinema camera in one, it is great for both with plenty of codecs and features to chose from with its 45 MP sensor, but takes quite a bit out of the battery life, less dynamic range in non RAW modes and still has micro HDMI. But the best recommendation I can say is two get either in your hands to try out. Hope it helps!

@@AnishRajah The thing is that with a 1.4 prime and clear image zoom the FX30 is a real alternative. Is a risk free cost effective option to dive into the Sony Ecosystem and for daily stuff. I mean, you can get 3 APSC 1.4 primes for less than $1000 on the used market. Also V60 cards are fine, that is all I use. With the handle you get 4 channel audio plus you get FX3/FX6 exact workflows in case you ever step up or get called to a bigger shoot. Crazy world we live in.

I think a major flaw personally for the sony is that I use anamorphic lenses quite a bit and it seems that the sony cant record a proper 4.6k resolution that an anamorphic lens needs to not look distorted when you translate the video. but idk, maybe it does, its just an observation

go with FX3 if you need low light capability, it has 12 megapixel and because the pixel size is much bigger in full frame area it is good in low light, in daylight both cameras are good.

As a videographer get the R5C, C-Log is easier to expose than S-Log, you get better & more codecs, better colors, waveform & false color ... Then of course the whole photographers size

Appreciate the effort you put into this! I haven't used a Sony since the A7III, but i'm not in love with the R5/R5C. It has such odd colors in RAW or Clog3 compared to my C70. The highlight roll off and shadow detail is much worse. I mostly use the R5C as a photo cam haha. I would try the FX3 for my small cam if it had at least 20MP. Oh yeah and the autofocus on the R5C in anything but perfect light is pretty horrible vs the R5, thanks to the cinema OS.

Good video but, the idea that lower megapixel sensors take in more light or are better in low light is a well know fallacy and has been debunked numerous times. Also, higher megapixel sensor product a finer grain pattern than lower resolution sensors. That said I’m not wild about the R5C or the FX3. In both cases I feel the previous versions, R5 and A7SIII offer better value.
@schumif1champ Жыл бұрын
Not true photo sites are larger and do gather more light. In photos where you shrink it down yes it compensates and noise gets smaller. Either way you can get to a good result using either method. But bigger photo sites to gather more light.
@jmasked5082 Жыл бұрын
Hmm I always thought lower resolution sensor gather more light because the photosites are bigger over the same area, so they are more sensitive. It's why Sony's a7s/FX3 video centric range of mirrorless has always been lower megapixel. How is this debunked?
@angryrabbitproductions1690 Жыл бұрын
@@jmasked5082 Google "lower megapixels better low light"... there are multiple articles out there. It's a very common misconception.
@jmasked5082 Жыл бұрын
@@angryrabbitproductions1690 I looked. One video by DPReview and a dozen websites quoting it. In their video there is obviously slightly more noise in the a7r IV vs the a7s III they compare. But it's stills, and they deduce that for large prints at 100%, the resolution gain is worth it. They then go and do some noise reduction to match them. Watch at 8:40 in the DPReview video. Fact: Larger photo sites absorb more light. It's physics. It's not a myth, it's just in the mix with a lot of other factors at play as well. Including that lower resolution requires less processing power and that can also allow room for other IQ improvements.
