Exactly! My R7 grip also has this noise when I hold it. It's so disappointing... And the lens mouthpiece isn't exactly attached, it has a gap. Missing Canon of the old days, it made resistant products. I think all brands improve technology and forget to strengthen the physical. 🤦

I think it's really sad that Canon is not allowing third-party lenses. No RF lenses from Sigma, Laowa, Viltrox, Tamron, TTArtisan, etc, is a huge deal-breaker for me. Also what is this "low quality" mode to get around the 4k crop? They still didn't make a proper 4k sensor for video?
@boywithacamera2 жыл бұрын
I found out about this after uploading the video yesterday and damn it's extremely unfortunate...I'd like to imagine that they'd have to backpedal on this eventually due to the backlash or at least allow loopholes through some wording in the patents, but that may just be wishful thinking.

@boywithacamera thanks so much, your reviews have been immensely helpful. I've been torn between the A7c (or A7iii or iv) or R7 as my frontrunners. I think overall the R7 looks more usable, but the limitations of the RF mount are off-putting. My use case is quite similar to yours - personal content, mixed with some client work and ideally an eventual transition to a cinema camera (RED, FX cameras?!) Which camera would you go with today?
@boywithacamera2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate that a lot, thank you! My thoughts are actually exactly the same. The R7 has the better specs and features so when looking at cameras alone, I'd probably go with the R7...but I'm not a fan of how the RF mount is developing/headed at the moment. If you're looking at a RED in the future though, I do think EF is a safe way to go for either cine-modded vintage glass or offerings from brands like DZOFILM. Sony seems like a more robust system at this point (which is so interesting to say as an original A7 owner haha), but I'm not too sure if I'm a fan of the look coming out of the FX line sensors--a little too modern for my taste. Personally, I think I would still go the R7 route. Personally personally though, I'm beginning to hate the build quality of the R7 over time and not really enjoying the user-experience/files coming out of it. It's making me realize I might not like the user experience of other Canon cameras as well so I'm also looking at other options and might try having 2 systems again. Hope that helps!

@@boywithacamera Thanks so much for your further insight! Oh, strange. I like Canon for the camera-usability (menus, ergonomics), but if thats been difficult for you on the R7 that is a bit off-putting. I had also considered going FX3/FX6 route but don't know too much of those cameras. Basically, I'd want a mirrorless DSLR platform for the next 2-3 years while building skills and lens collection then transitioning to a cinema camera for mostly run-gun docs. EDIT: specifically to the A7c, is there a way to switch to video mode and back to picture mode without having your settings applied to that other mode? It drives me crazy when I'm shooting in 1/50th for the 180 shutter rule and switch to photo mode preserving the PP or aperture / shutter settings. And, how is the build of the A7c? I like the small size as I shoot alot of outdoor sports, but some level of weathering sealing and robustness would be appreciated. Would the A7iii or A7iv be a better camera for that? I am reasonably careful, but you never know.

Great Content for Doc/vlog content. Would you recommend the Canon R62, Canon R5, or Sony Fx3? I also like to take pictures on occasion. Any other suggestions? For some reason, I love Canon's usability
@boywithacamera Жыл бұрын
Appreciate you! I found the R6 mark ii to be an amazing balance for everything and not sure if upgrading to the R5 would be necessary. I'm using the Sony a6700 right now and I think it's also a strong contender, but the fx3 definitely has better usability. Canon wins for usability in my experience, but Sonys are also extremely solid once you get used to them

I’m still glad I bought an A7C (due to you). Super versatile for video and photography and then all these lenses from different brands… also it’s point and shoot/small form factor makes it look like a “non so serious” camera on the streets.

So glad to hear that you're enjoying the A7C! Definitely a solid camera that performs really well while still having a small form factor. Versatile little beast!

Haha to be honest I don't think I'm competent enough to give it a fair review so it's not in the plans yet! But it definitely is everything I love in a camera and shoots my shooting style very well minus the slow boot up time.
