Hey guys, I'm fairly excited in this clip because I just discovered that the Canon EOS R7 has a pre-shooting mode, and as I often shoot birds around the place, this is exciting to be able to backtrack captures to the decisive moment!

Thank you for reminding me about this function. I've had the R7 since release. And whole.playong around with it, I did find this function but never used it since I wasn't setup for bird photography yet.

Oh yeah nice! I still use it fairly often, I set in my custom menu, it’s annoying you have to go into menus to enable, should be able to be a custom saveable mode.

That looks exceptionally useful especially for wild life and sports shooters . I’ll be interested to hear how this pans out for you and if you think the .raw images are as good as one shot as well as further comments on buffering . The R7 continues to represent good value for money as far as I can see especially if you are already in the Canon system with an existing lens investment. Yes sports shooting, thanks for that obvious other application - I can try use it at the showjumping how did I not think of that! I’m really stoked with having the R7, even though I’ve also been lambasted for going for the crop sensor option but I also have full frame so no qualms for me - sounds like we are pretty fortunate to actually have the R7 out here, some markets are still struggling to even see it shipped!… oh bad news for the weather hopefully it burns off for you today and enjoy your time away in any case n

Glad that Canon have included this function. Similar function is available in both Panasonic and Canon camera for many years . Hope Canon would update it on their R5 and R3 ff as well.

you can program the raw burst burst mode to one of the buttons on top ( i put mine to the mfn button) so you don't have to go to the menu to switch it

I know I‘m late but thank you for this video! I‘m shooting with the R7 for 4 months now (bird and wildlife photography in general) and didn’t know this function even exists.😭

Would also be a great feature for lightning!! Not sure if you said, but that single file, do you have to break it out in camera or can lightroom handle it yet?

Oh yeah that’s a great suggestion I will remember that thanks. Currently you must extract the file/a you want in camera as Lightroom cannot handle the full file, which is somewhat annoying but so long as you remember it is ok.

Very useful. Thank you. Quick question: Are you able display AF points, if enabled in the menus (in camera or DPP) on the captured images, similar to other shooting modes captured mages? This seems to be missing on my images.

Hmm I’ll have to check don’t think it can show up, as the extracted RAW is basically a single frame of what could be possibly be a larger RAW video style master file, almost a screen grab

Hi, this setting is available in only Manual mode? I don't see it in Auto mode. Can this be achieved with continuous shooting mode?

Has to be enabled through menus for one of the manual modes M TV or AV

Thank I have a question. In R7, how can we tell the object is on focus. There is no blue square shown when the half press is pressing.

Hey there you cannot seem to save custom settings with raw burst enabled, so I have the setting itself saved to my favourites menu page to get to it immediately I have changed to the custom shooting mode I would use it with.

@@TheOtherPhotoGuy So we did the same😂 I made two wildlife custom settings. Both with animal and eye detection (accessible with button customizations en fav menu page). One with rolling and one with mech shutter. Tnx for the reply m8👊

Just bought it and waiting for battery to charge so I can use it! I'm going to use it to shoot dolphins and id them for research (volunteer) I know EXACTLY what you mean with catching the 'launch'

Hey what camera you trying in? R7? Menu, camera page 6, maybe make sure you are in a manual mode like M, TV or AV? Let me know….
