So, I just had this problem between a Tamron lens and both my Canon R6 & 5D4 bodies. I tried cleaning the contacts, etc. The trick that fixed it was pushing the DOF button on the left front of the camera (when looking at it). I have no idea why it did what it did, but it fixed it. No probs now and the lens is shooting great photos.

I hate Canon's eror codes. To me best solition is to close display with the type or paint not to see eror msg since happens so often ..

Only permanent solution is replacing the communication strip inside the lens. The video is only for emergency solution to continue the job (shooting) without missing any event.

After seeing the comments, I realise two things 1. Many people are having this issue. 2. No one actually solve the problem. What about those people like me who wasted money on canon dual pixel AF system... It's not about ameture and professional anymore... People use manual adjustment but AF always on. Canon is my wrong choose.

You lose aperture control, auto focus and stabiliser, but if the lens is super wide, narrow or otherwise unique, this makes it useable. And those broken lenses are cheap.

Why not take the camera/lens to an authorised Canon repairer and have the mount circuit board replaced? then everything works properly, simple The method you are suggesting might be ok for an emergency but it's not a permanent answer and the adhesive goo on the tape, I suggest may cause long term damage to the lens mount gold pins

Frank Redward the motive of this video is for the photographer not to get panic at the time of coverages. Its a temporary solution to continue the shooting. Its always safe to carry a backup kit in reserve.

that is not a fix, that is a workaround to get out of trouble, the issue is a ribbon cable that connects between the contact pins and the fucus micro circuit. a repair for say a 28 -80mm will be around £65, if you are technically minded you can do this for a tad more than halfe this as i did.

That's only a solution for not displaying the error. The problem is still there, lens will not autofocus and aperture will not work, all shots are done on wide aperture. If cleaning the contacts do not solve the error message, this mean, time to send it to repair or to get a new lens. The way to know is a serious lens problem, when it does not autofocus, and check if aperture is working, by setting the camera in B and the aperture in 16. Look inside the lens with a light if the aperture is not closing when you press your shutter, your lens need repair.

You don't have to do this all.!!! Just turn off and turn on the camera once, set the aperture to maximum (lowest f number). Problem solved 😊. Also, using insulation tape as shown in video may cause some issues like lens being stucked in the camera forever! Don't try this.

Yadu in the end today I used a thin transparent tape on my backup camera (Eos 1000d), and before I sat up the aperture to 9. Using the ISO and shutter speed to get the exposure, a sort of game

I did this and works, the F point cannot be changed tho and that is not really a problem atm. I am just wondering is there any negative outcome of this solution? Can it manifest into a bigger problem? I just got a pretty new canon body and I don´t want to cause more problems with this solution. Ofc I will send it to a repair department once I get my life sorted out (haha but sad haha)

Its a good question... You have to get the lens serviced. What I said is a temporary solution to continue shooting. You are not suppose to have the tape on the lens for a long period of time.....
